    Hedging Vega

The only products where you could probably do this are in the S&P 500 complex: SPX/SPY/e-mini options because you can hedge your vega with VIX futures or ETFs. Don't think DIA or Dow futures have a liquid Dow VIX contract. But the Dow and S&P 500 are pretty highly correlated, so just use VIX...

The machines are coming for your pricing models

They could always create a basic universal "deep hedging" algo for the masses, and then keep one with all the "bells and whistles" for themselves...have their cake and eat it too.

Wonder if you'd make more money commercializing and licensing out the AI, or keeping it proprietary and outperforming your peers.

    Hedging Vega

If you think vol is high then SELL options for directional exposure. Sell OTM puts or OTM put verticals if you think we're going to rally, Sell OTM calls or OTM call verticals if you think we're going to keep going lower. That's if you think IV is high.

Are credit spreads as risky as naked sell of opts ?

"Why is that VolSkewTrader? How often is the Vix over 35? Looking forward to your reply so I can understand better, Thanks, James" That is just my personal risk/reward threshold. Illini Trader has a better rule of thumb of where you have to be willing to buy the stock at your short put strike...

Please help me, option market making risk return, thanks

Didn't take you as the type to run a scam operation/website. But seems like some people here want to take you down. Best to keep a low profile and operate incognito. I also went to undergrad U of Chicago. But that's all anyone needs to know.

Thanks for the recommendation, Baron. Can I ask why the Options Forum slot is more expensive than the other sponsorship slots?

No one is going to hand him the keys to run a desk/profit center by himself. Any job listing he saw was an entry level junior trader, electronic market maker position that will likely have him working the graveyard shift for an around-the-clock trading operation...which is perfectly fine for...

Are credit spreads as risky as naked sell of opts ?

You should only be selling naked puts when the VIX cash index is printing 35+

I probably should have said 'overlapping' in addition to 'adjacent'.

Thanks Baron. So no more than a couple of thousand. Absolutely a niche market - small audience. However, this niche market is willing to pay a much higher premium than retail if the product or service helps their bottom line. I'll check to see if they are interested. Which type of...

Hi Baron, Could I get an estimate of how many of your members are professional option traders? I've noticed most are retail equity customers who trade individual accounts via platforms such as TOS or IB. Would like to know what portion of ET's actively viewing audience (your best guess)...

Just make sure you don't look Don ("Doogie") or Ken Griffin straight in the eye for more than 5 seconds during the interview.

Have you tried interviewing with some of the big MM groups such as Susquehanna, DRW, CTC, Wolverine, Blue Fin, Jump, Optiver....just to name a few.

First you need to learn how to write code, which is the most desirable skill. Then you need to have a good trading idea and/or methodology that is scalable. Prop firms are looking for people either with experience (which you don't have), or someone with good programming skills who can write...

Susquehanna International Group Case Study: Overview and Executive Summary Available for Download

Forgot to mention Timber Hill. Those guys had the most stress-free job on the planet. They gave up huge edge sometimes, but I'm sure the guys upstairs were locking in much bigger winners. Cushy job, mediocre salary, but maybe they all got IBKR stock and were multi-millionaires. Would explain why...

I drive under that horrendous looking building everyday. They should have turned it into a giant indoor casino resort, complete with a topless rooftop pool. Trading floors still exist??! Chicago needs to get with the times.
