Which formula tells you the % of gain or loss of 10y bonds from monthly change in yields?

Careful when using these calculations. Works on US government bonds because there weren't any defaults (yet). Do not use any of this arithmetic on Argentina/Greece/Russia or corporate bonds since it doesn't account for defaults.

Can the dollar rally straight up with the market?

    Not really. Check 1995 - 2000.

Former Turtle Trader and ET Member in Jail?

Countertrend trading has Victor Niederhoffer. Trendfollowing has Curtis Faith. Each tribe has their luminary-turned-lunatic.

Full-time Trading Advice for a 22 Year Old

To think taking profits protects you from losses is amateur advice. "Real traders" manage risk, being a "real trader" has absolutely NOTHING to do with taking profits daily. So you weren't really telling the whole picture did you. In reality your trading account is likely significantly bigger...

Full-time Trading Advice for a 22 Year Old

What does the phrase "If you're truly a trader" mean? Real traders take profits daily? That's ludicrous. I always have 90% of my entire networth (10% is real estate that we own and live in) in the markets. So if you say you can live comfortably trading a ~$100k account I must wonder if you have...

Full-time Trading Advice for a 22 Year Old

You won't like to hear this but you are severely undercapitalized to trade for a living. Before I started trading for a living and depending on the income stream I generate I made sure I have a big enough capital base. For myself that means trading capital > $1m, you might be OK with less...

Jim Cramer doesn’t beat the market

He was insider trading how do you think he beat the market. His fund returned something in the range of annualized 19% after 2/20 over 10 years which is impossible for a monkey like him unless he has an unfair advantage. Immediately after insider trading became illegal he wound up the fund. His...

Jim Cramer doesn’t beat the market

Cramer did well in the late 80s and 90s with his hedge fund where he traded (self-admittedly) largely on insider information. Once reg FD was filed he quickly wound up his fund in 2000/2001.

Karen the Supertrader - TastyTrade Hybrid Experiment

Galvin no dispute here, fully agree. There is no "consistent income" in any sort of options trading. When people ask for consistent income I tell them to buy treasury bonds. But that's not what they want to hear. They want to make "income" of 2% per month, every month. That's how Bernie Madoff...

    Schadenfreude Warning: "Karen the Supertrader"

Sorry that fat moderator guy with the balaclava was parading Karen around on his show as some sort of superstar, selling her "investment strategy" as some sort of holy grail. He was smiling in awe whenever she said "You know when the market moves against our positions, I just roll into the next...

    Schadenfreude Warning: "Karen the Supertrader"

How many gullible retail investors were lured into this ponzi scheme by those radio moderator douchebags?

Karen the Supertrader - TastyTrade Hybrid Experiment

Short volatility strategies are designed to get destroyed regularly. Doesn't mean they're useless in a balanced portfolio. What some of you guys are doing in this thread is arguing that one strategy is better than the other by design. That's foolish. There are many types of market inefficiencies...

Trading via own remote company in a no-tax-country

You don't know what you're talking about. This isn't about the physical location of servers or the repatriation of gains. I can only recommend to everyone to talk to your tax specialist and not be cheap about it. I see so much BS info on the forum regarding offshore taxation it's scary.

Trading via own remote company in a no-tax-country

No won't work. Your offshore structure would not be accepted by your local tax authority and you'd be liable for full local taxes. Google the "mind and management" test.

Karen the Supertrader - TastyTrade Hybrid Experiment

Why is this guy getting some many negative comments? Why is he being lectured that short volatility strategies tend to get "killed" when volatility picks up? That's like telling a Harley driver that biking is dangerous.

Cyprus tax - recommended service provider?

Try www.treppides.com -- Not one of the big 4 in Cyprus, but probably 5-6. Careful with using your Cyprus vehicle to save taxes in your Scandinavian country. 1. Scandinavian tax agencies are notorious for ripping apart tax saving schemes. They have the most hardcore reputation across Europe. 2...

    Global Macro Trading Journal

Even if not plausible, ZH is about generating clicks and eyeballs. If some non-sense theory gets the libertarians clicking then they make more money from ad views so they post it. They're Huffingtonpost for goldbugs. If the ZH guys had to trade for a living they'd blow up 2-3 times per year...

Finding investors to start a hedge fund

Friends and family is your best bet. Pool together a couple hundred k, run it for a few years. If you're lucky and can trade through a bear market successfully you will have a good track record to use in the future. If you did well did you can start marketing to outside investors in a few years...

S&P rallies 50 points in 24 hours; do you believe the oil rally?

This is just typical market action. I don't see anything out of the ordinary. With IV of ~30 in the US and ~40 in European markets these 50 handle swings happen quite often. I wouldn't try to read anything into it.

Amazing volatility - Will it last?

So you're essentially admitting if you multiplied your size x3 on Friday you could have replicated your 180 points from Wednesday. When I read "to those who know what they're doing" in one of your posts it was obvious you're a clueless piker.
