Exit tax to leave the country

There was a movement afoot here in Cali for immigrants that worked on fake/borrowed SSNs to get credit for the money "they" paid into the "borrowed" SSN account; the amounts deducted from their checks. The movement also wanted to have the SSN benefit checks sent directly to the Mexico or San...

Fuel tax could be replaced with by-the-mile road tax

We likely end up with both taxes. The per mile tax will kick in after 7,500 miles... "excessive use fee", "equilization fee" ("high-mileage" drivers, "fair share", etc...).

The Worlds 10th largest economy (California) goes into default tommorrow (7/1/09)

I am suggesting a vehicle tax on the amount of fuel consumed; therefore, a "sort of" tax on highway usage. If you have an expensive car and don't drive it, your fee is considerably higher than the guy who drives $50k miles a year in an older vehicle.

The Worlds 10th largest economy (California) goes into default tommorrow (7/1/09)

Okey, $100 to $160; my point was that the tax/fee is not flat.... Similarly, if you have a big expensive "ride", the taxes can be much higher. Personally, I think if they are gonna impose a fee, it should be collected via the gas pump in the form of a "user tax"...

The 30 most costly trading errors

I've been focusing on a few things lately. !) Discipline over conviction (Todd Harrison) 2) Trade what you see, not what you think(I believe Larry Pesavento said this, but could be wrong). I've been teaching my daughter to trade via a QQQQ system - its like a very thorough test &...

Soros? I'll pass... Socialist, Globalist, Asshat... Governator ran as a "change" candidate, much like Black Bush, and he morphed in Gray Davis, Jr. Just glancing at it occasionally, it seemed the legislature wouldn't pass any of this changes & he rolled over. Apparently, politics does very...

    California to default next week!

You are thinking in terms of People rather than Capital. Capital is much less emotional; it goes where it is welcomed & where opportunities exist. Taxes stunt opportunity; it lowers the return while raising the cost of business. At some point, you can choose not to work, structure yourself so...

My solution to Californias Budget crisis.

Thanks Landis - that sounds about right at 10,000 admissions for 50,000 applicants. Someone had tols me that UCSD had admitted like 4,000 or 48,000 applicants, but that was incottect as the website shows like 17,000 or 48,000 applicants. BTW, your $27,000 estimate is about correct for the "all...
