    Help wanted for newb

If she's only willing to lose 10% of the 10k, then her stake is really 1k. I suggest she paper trade or maybe trade tiny lots of her stock just to have some skin in the game while she learns. Good luck.

IB "Sweep to Fill" order type

Resurrecting an old thread for the same Q. Does a sweep to fill order issue multiple, simultaneous orders IOC to all destinations at your limit price or better?

Should I panic about my short position on Apple calls?

    Is the OP panicking now?

Should I panic about my short position on Apple calls?

It's not likely AAPL's going to get bought out, so you don't have to worry about that. I'd worry more about a forced liquidation by your broker if vol spikes. You could get taken out involuntarily and the calls might still expire worthless.

Why do algos buy in pieces????

You're assuming the whole 10k went to the same seller.

    Option Replicating portfolio

Aren't you just buying enough options to have the proper number of deltas as the long stock position, then investing the remainder of the cash you would have spent to buy the long stock at the risk-free rate? I'm going to change the assumptions just to make the math easier. You want 200...

Best Broker for Large Lot Swing Trading?

I find it very hard to figure the exact effect of the rebates pre-trade, but that sounds about right. I'm also assuming that the fills would be better at IB over the two brokers you mentioned, so it would be worth it even if the commissions were the same. Honestly, at the trade sizes and...

A Strange But Serious Proposition for a Not Yet Profitable Trader

I've heard of people having success arranging house trades, either directly via Craiglist or through organized house swap sites. Your options get better depending on what your hometown and residence have to offer. Having a NYC apartment to trade would definitely put you on the A list. I've...

Anyone besides IB offer stock algos?

There's not much discussion of the IB algos or the CSFB ones here. Anyone find any value in paying the extra .003 for CSFB or Jefferies algos over IB?

Best Broker for Large Lot Swing Trading?

Are you adding liquidity? IB's rates go way down if you are getting the rebate under Cost Plus plan.

Possible to buy italian bonds like stock?

Futures on them are on Eurex. I was tempted last week when they were at 7%. Could be going to 50% on their way to default though.

    FOK it!

Or you don't want someone putting in small orders against your size to ping for liquidity.

    Turtle Trading... Thoughts?

It still works because it has long flat periods and a low Sharpe ratio. Hard for people to trade without giving up. I wish someone would build a massively diversified, trend-following ETF with low fees so I can have pint-sized exposure to this strategy without having to pay some CTA 2/20 for...

Increase Liquidity through a Prime Broker

A prime broker is not going to be interested in an account in the low 6 figure range. I'm assuming the OP has exhausted the capabilities of brokers like IB or Thinkorswim using RFQ for his spreads?

Using IB to convert currencies and then transfer funds to a European bank?

Yes. Just sell dollars for euro and then wire the funds to your bank in Europe. That is why they have different receiving banks for each currency.
