When someone asks "what you do for a living" what do you answer!

Let's look closer: I made money ($1/share) you made money ($0.1/share) guy lost money ($1.10) But, $1 gain+$0.1 gain - $1.1 loss = $0 (that's basically the zero sum, prior to commissions and fees)

Two Buys + One Sell = 2 Daytrades?

version77, Opening 4th position is not yet a daytrade. The 25k rules allow an account to open unlimited number of positions. In short, the rules allow unlimited multiday-trades and max. 3 daytrades. But if you open 4th position there's a risk that the stock can drop intraday like MSTR...

island is dead?? loosing incredible market share

Island is the largest ECN, simply it's reporting its volume/trade mostly through Cincinnati Stock Exchange, not through Nasdaq. Island is getting an incredibly big market share, fortunately/unfortunately Instinet has bought it recently.

Getting back to 25K in account

With cash account, for purchases, you don't use any sameday funds, because you have to pay 3 dasy later at settlement. Anyway, $0 sameday cash is used for intraday cash-account purchases, because payment is due 3 days later at settlement. Thus, cash accounts don't use or re-use any sameday...

Will single stock futures replace stocks?

None of the above, I think. #1 will be Island futures Exchange imo. Think of it as Island ECN for futures: electronic, low fees, free streaming SSF quotes, 8am-8pm trading hours. Compare that to the other SSF exchanges: some of them will not be fully electronic (AMEX like SSF Market Makers)...

Cyber vs. IB - again, but this is specific

Why don't you trade Nasdaq 100 Emini futures NQ instead of QQQs? Trading NQ is cheaper, since NQ = 800 QQQ shares and NQ commissions are $2.40/contract or lower i.e. $2.40 for 800 QQQ shares. Because there are no partial fills for buying/selling the equivalent of 800 QQQ using NQ, and NQ...

TS 6 + IB or TS 6 alone?

Bullfighter wrote: At .002 cents extra for TS, why would you use IB? Answer: First, those .002 cents are 20% higher commission. Second, A closer look at commissions charges reveals that : IB = 1cent/share for the first 500 shares of the order, 1/2 cent/share unlimited TS6 =...

Precisely. What is the risk of $30,000 account trading 800 QQQ shares or one NQ contract? Answer: Absolutely the same. No more, no less. What is more risky trading with a $30k account: one ES or 500 SPY shares? Answer: The risk is absolutely the same. But on the other hand: Trading...
