Is it possible to win in one trade? Or are we supposed to lose 9/10 times

If the losers are small and the winners are big, what's it matter in terms of profitability? In terms of portfolio performance, though, it leaves more to be desired, I think a high win-rate is better for observing systemic drawdowns or mistakes.

Because voter complacency is a thing both campaigns would want to work against. Getting lazy a month out isn't wise.

You shouldn't try to catch fish by jumping in the lake.

Is it possible to win in one trade? Or are we supposed to lose 9/10 times

Win rate is only part of expectancy. Scalping pennies will have a high win rate, but devastating losses. Shooting for home runs will result in big wins amongst a sea of losses. Have you observed any patterns about your losses? We can't figure out what you're doing wrong if you can't tell us...

    Options pricing (basic question)

Yeah, it's just skew. There are theoretical ideals for options pricing, but the market will set its own standards.

    Hiding P&L

I am of two minds. 1. Hide it. Don't worry about being up for the day or down for the day, as that shouldn't impact your next trade. For trading psychology purposes, it'd be best to never know. For risk management purposes, you should keep track of it. 2. Don't hide it. You can't get over...

BREAKING NEWS: First the triangle broke, now the support broke

I wouldn't get too excited yet, it feels like another wait and see day. While the gap down wasn't pretty, the rest of the day was a steady climb upwards. See if earnings continue to disappoint.

    Question on Straddle Setups.

Look up Ratio spreads, they'll be cheaper for what you want; a volatile, directional move in the underlying. Not the same as a straddle, as the downside is flat, but it is at least protected. https://www.tradeking.com/education/options/strategies/call-backspread

WTH is with these End of Day Spikes

Is this an actual trading restriction or have you not set your orders to be executable after hours? P.S. After hours require limit orders, which I know you love.

Long Call - where is the leverage ?

The leverage expires with the option, so to speak. Buying an option and reselling the option before expiry is what you do, don't hold until assigned unless you actually wanted to buy it long term. Per your example, That $200 XYZ40 Call will expire worth $1000. Sell the call right before the...

How much are iceberg orders a detriment on tick charts?

How does modern tech invalidate volume charting? And yes, I meant constant volume bars like i960 mentioned. Not sure about your comment re: players in the market. I mentioned seeing far fewer than I thought. Fast or slow, the tick data should indicate that a trade occurred, no? You couldn't...

WTH is with these End of Day Spikes

Big spike relative to past bars, but not really a big move, I'd say. The move would hardly be worth talking about as you increase timeframes. Can you not trade after hours?

Actual breakeven point for credit spread

You have to account for time value if you exit before expiry. On close, that spread will be worth 50$ yes, and you would break even, transaction costs aside.

Best Broker for Volume Options Traders

"Interactive Brokers imposes a daily "Exposure Fee" on a small minority of IB customer accounts that have a very high worst-case loss risk exposure. This is to attempt to partially protect IB and its customers from those accounts that have very risky positions that currently satisfy exchange...

How much are iceberg orders a detriment on tick charts?

I tend towards volume charts, but I recently opened up a tick chart just to see what else it offered. One, I was very surprised by how many trades actually occur in a given time period, it was much smaller than I thought. I think I was overestimating the number of players in the market at any...

How does Open Interest suggest strong resistant/support zones?

The point is to find if there is any theoretical reason that OI strike prices could indicate S/R levels. I'm not assuming, it's the point I'm trying to discern.

How does Open Interest suggest strong resistant/support zones?

Will see if I can find any research into those topics. What if we throw institutional and market makers gamma scalping into the mix? Market makers sell a lot of options, right? And they may want to stay Delta neutral as much as possible, possibly hedging using the underlying. What if the...
