    Boycott ICE/NYBOT

What's the deal with brokers that distribute free ICE data via their generic platforms i.e. open ecry, global futures zen trader, RJO Vantage, etc... are they really shelling out $75/month for each user that doesn't trade those markets? What I'm getting at is whether this fee is really levied...

Should Congressmen be allowed to trade on Inside Information?

FYP invest 50% of their assets in 30 year treasuries, with a 5 year lockup after they leave office. Might think twice about profligate spending.

    The ACD Method

Flip - Do you have a link by chance on CME that describes the 11/17-11/18 liquidations? Pretty good volume and very sloppy selling in some of the softs today, probably worth a look on any reversal if the selling was artificial. Thanks

MF Global did Free Market the right way. We should salute them.

You stupid fuck, these were segregated customer accounts not equity holders or creditors. Ironically the free market will eventually work because customers will be bailed out by the CME and industry members because its integrity and existence depends on it.

$600 million still missing in MF Global books:WSJ

Apples and oranges! Why are we equating theft to 10:1 spec margins? Fine, make me post $60,000 for 1xES, if MF steals my collateral how is the outcome any different other than me losing MORE money? Let's not forget who the victim is here, 10:1 specs were taken advantage of by a broker...

So where can I find the stick with Corswines head on it?

You're missing my point, legitimate trading profits generated in a self-directed individual account @ a FCM are not subject to clawback. They are not derived from criminal activity ala Madoff. We don't disagree that if MF commingled segregated funds it IS criminal and they should hang.

So where can I find the stick with Corswines head on it?

Good read up until about the 5th or 6th paragraph where she goes off her rocker. Clawbacks only apply to profits generated from criminal activity.

Long july 12 Gasoline / Short July 12 Heating oil

Wow at this spread, the energy space has become a giant clusterfuck with the unwinding of Brent/WTI and flip in term structure. I suspect MF (directly or indirectly) played a big role in setting off some of these liquidations the last two weeks. Nobody even gave a shit that Keystone XL was...

CME changes margin req to INITIAL = MAINTENANCE !?!?!?

So that alarmist rag ZH breaks this story, all the comments insinuate this is some contrived margin call to squeeze long metals positions. Now they flip-flop and imply the change will cause a gross expansion of risk as if speculators will suddenly open positions Monday with the windfall...

    CL Redux

No, it wasn't API's they're delayed to Wednesday because of the holiday, besides they hit @ half past 4.

    CL Redux

Anyone know what caused the 3:50pm ET move? Unusual time for volume to trade - it was well before anything came out of Slovakia or Alcoa.

    IB's "IBIS"

IBsoft - Please consider adding a similar fee model for deep books viewed through TWS. For someone who trades off multiple booktraders, it's very disruptive to do $10k in commissions in a given month, take 2 weeks off next month, then be forced to return to a 3-book limitation. I...

A vertical call debit spread triggers a margin call. Does that shound right?

Not that they're being implicated here but in defense of IB I've seen nothing but fair marks on hundreds of futures options, many of which routinely have no bid no offer. As most brokers do, they mark options using a theoretical model based on the underlying price. I believe the only case...

    S&P Downgrade rumors

How many times is this stupid rumor going to come out today? CNBC refreshed it after the close, SPY's dropped a buck (recovered some). http://www.cnbc.com/id/44039103

    Contrived concern over Asian open?

Markets were perfectly sanguine on Friday's close, and now all of a sudden everyone on the Sunday talk shows and online is concerned about the opening in Asia? Seems pretty obvious someone has an agenda to push and is aggravated the markets are acting nonplussed.

Republican Mainstream Flirts with Brief US Default

That's funny, those sound like the same consequences of profligate spending a few years down the road.

Are lower 60/40 tax rates on futures in jeopardy of repeal?

"Fair" would be no capital gains tax, period. Maybe semantics, but I prefer to say securities traders are disadvantaged instead of saying futures traders are taking advantage of an "unfair" taxation scheme. I think it's in all our interests not to move toward more onerous taxation even if one...

Are lower 60/40 tax rates on futures in jeopardy of repeal?

No new taxes, period. As someone already pointed out, 60/40 defrays some of the costs associated with rolling maturities that would never qualify for long term capital gains. Talking about "fairness" opens up a whole can of worms that will bite stock traders in the ass too - is it "fair" that...

Futuresource website stopped providing ICE quotes?

Looks like a company called quotemedia.com Amazing how they turn the best futures website into the worst overnight. They don't owe me anything, but shame on esignal for not giving a heads up. Did anyone try posting on the esignal forums? Only hope now is that they sold off the website...
