    My Goal for 2007: Break-Even

2 ways to describe this very common phenomenon: 1. Eat like a bird, shit like a moose. 2. Trading is like trying to fill a bucket with an eye dropper. Then when the bucket is almost full someone comes along and kicks the bucket over!

mbusch, I wonder if Tradestation thinks the close is 4pm? In that case you were filled after the close, so no position at the "close."

looks like a strong Chicago NAPM must be out already. edit: 61.7 vs 54 expected - that would be strong

I just modified my charts today to include only NYSE hours, ie 9am to 4pm ET. Is that what everyone else is doing? My charts include the overnight session so they show no gaps, and of course long periods of sideways inactivity.

JimmyJam, how did you identify 1512 as support? (Since it was the low print!) - That is exactly what happened.

Stocks turn lower after Greenspan's China comment

Someone close to Greenspan? How bout his new employer? Not by shorting anything, just by being long bonds.

    Should Greenspan just STFU?

Greenspan now works as a consultant for Bill Gross, who as everyone knows is loaded to the gills with bonds and is very bullish on bonds and loves to talk his position. So if, big if, Mr Greenspan could precipitate a stock market crash with his remarks, bonds would certainly rally and make...

apex, thanks for the reply. Now I can spend some quality time studying TLT charts! Bond futures (ZB) track TLT pretty closely. And now let us return to our regularly scheduled program! :)

apex, could you elaborate a bit on the setup you see in TLT? I see a .618 retracement at 86.09 (5/12/06 low 82.56 to 12/1/06 high 91.42) but I'm not sure why a huge move is expected. I actually bought some TLT yesterday at 86.85 (great buy yesterday - not so good today) to...

I show a high for the S&P 500 index of 1552.87 on 3/24/2000 (but the high close was 1527.46) vs Friday's close of 1522.75. That must have been some day, a record close but 25 points off the high of the day! So they do wave a big red flag to signal a market top after all

After I read that this morning I placed an order to sell at 1522 and went to lunch. :D Then I came back from lunch and canceled the order before leaving for an afternoon appointment. Wouldn't have gotten filled - high print was 1521.75.... but sheesh anyway!

I agree, but I had to redraw my trendline after May 10. The original trendline from the March 14 low touching the April 12 low and May 1 low was violated by the May 10 low and close. I think that hadfaked more than a few.

amen! of course a big part of the fascination is 2 + 20 :D Trading my own account from home is going to be very difficult but the ultimate goal is to be self sufficient, answer to noone and be totally mobile.
