You mean the sharp move off the LOD 1453.75 up to the old LOD of 1459.50 ? Did you see that as a trend reversing move? I see you bought after the move. (looking good :) )

I think market is being held up by "hope" of some immediate action. Things will deteriorate as the day proceeds with no Fed action.

JJ, thanks for the link. Interesting that he wrote this in 1989. I just finished "Trading in the Zone" which suggests a similar exercise. Any suggestions for a simple system to use for the exercise? Need something with very clear signals, no discretion..... oh, and profitable! :D

Glad to see you mention that. That is exactly where I shorted it! Market briefly looked like it was going to head lower, then continued up, I got stopped out for -1 point. :(

yesterday from 1468.50 to 1499.25, then 10.75 back down to 1488.50 Today, 1488.75 down to 1468.25, a 10.75 point bounce would take us to....... 1479. (I was reluctant to post this earlier because it seemed so, so... stupid) :)

1500 isn't that much of an explosion considering we touched 1499.25 yesterday. I am wary of today being a mirror of yesterday, which would entail a rally starting at 3:35pm. (or not :D )

elovemer, if stop is in place, does it reside on your computer (lost if computer goes down) or at the broker? Not 100% of this myself - I had better check. I keep trading desk phone# close by. If computer crashes I call trading desk. to either close out trades or make sure stop is in place.

well, I for one did not absolutely milk it.. :( I did however recognize the trend as UP, but that wasn't 100% clear to me until the 1478 high was taken out by a HH at around 9:45 am. From that point on, the problem I am still having is finding entry points. I guess I should just close my...

Wow, you aren't kidding! I obviously noticed that today was the reverse of yesterday, but I didn't realize how "mirror-like" it actually was until I put the 2 days side-by-side on my screen. I love symmetry!! :D So I measured.... this is day session only. Tuesday Morning decline =...

Saxon (rymes with Jaxon) has taken a lot of flak on here, mainly because he clearly violates some of what we all consider to be the basic rules of trading, ie let your profits run, cut your losses, don't add to losers (did I forget any? :) ) but, in spite of all that, it is not...

You just put it between {b} and {/b} but use the square brackets, [ ] . Actually, when you quote someone the forum puts the bold tags in automatically. You can also change the size of text using size= number tags Extremely important and how in the world do I make stuff...

How does that work? I have gotten better fills on stops, ie if my stop on a short position is 1454, I might actually get filled at 1453.75, but if the market squeezes out a 1454 print my stop is executed, no ifs ands or buts, even if 1 lot trades.

This dr cut is a big psychological lift for the market, but the discount rate is still a penalty rate. It has been cut from 6.25% to 5.75% Fed funds remains at 5.25%. Institutions are not going to be lined up at the window to borrow at 5.75%. But it does show that Bernanke is paying...
