Educate me. I thought 50% a year was good

rufus this is excellent info. i always wanted to know how things really worked in prime brokerage and capital intro. you mentioned that in return for providing access to top hedge funds, the prime broker would ask the FoF to invest $2-3 million in these start-up funds. how does the prime...

Educate me. I thought 50% a year was good

thanks for the info rufus. for capital introduction, i can see how access to the banks' private wealth management people is unattainable by the hedge fund without a relationship with the bank. however, would you say that meetings with fund of funds, pension funds, and attendance in hf...

Educate me. I thought 50% a year was good

Educate me. I thought 50% a year was good

Electricsavant, with 5K of capital, institutional investors will not give your track record credibility. it is just too small of an account regardless of whether or not you can prove that it's scalable. keep in mind that this is not just a matter of someone believing in you. it's a matter of...

so he had about $3-$15 million during that time period and banks were knocking on his door. what would you say is the minimum amount of capital to get a bank/prime broker interested? or is it really a matter of trading commissions instead of amount managed? how did the banks find him if...

Educate me. I thought 50% a year was good

How large was this fund at the beginning of the 2 year period? Electricsavant, I have read somewhere that if you start a fund and you have a drawdown of >5% in any month within the first year, it's over in terms of raising money from fund of funds. obviously if you have other types of...

    Class action shareholder lawsuits

Has anyone ever signed on to these class action shareholder lawsuits? Do you ever get anything? I'm talking about the letter you get every once in a while from a law firm asking you if you want to join a class action lawsuit on a stock you owned a while back.

    Quadriga Blow Up

I agree. Sure, there are a few that are outstanding, but the only difference between most hedge fund managers and the individual investor/trader who applies himself is that the hedge fund manager can fundraise. There's also the difference in that institutional sales will give "proprietary"...

    Quadriga Blow Up

I'm not a big fan of the Sharpe ratio, but I have to admit that it does have its merit when you look at the first chart. Sure, the CAGR is 20%+, but most of that is from the first two years. Any investor who got in after the first two years are making far less than 20%.
