    Anti Virus Free?

Be careful with some of the online scans. I have heard that the more unscrupulous ones actually download a few viruses on your machine then claim to have found them! You then have much incentive to purchase their software since THEY were the ones who found the bugs!

    Anti Virus Free?

LOL - at least I hope you're joking. The program just sits there in the background. The stuff that it protects you against can seriously screw your machine up. Ultra simple to install, you will not know it's even operating unless it picks up something (rare). Another line of defence...

    Anti Virus Free?

I use the free versions of the following: AVG Anti Virus Spybot Search & Destroy AdAware SE (Lavasoft) SpywareBlaster (Javacool) ZoneAlarm firewall I update them regularly and scan once a week. Appears to be adequate protection. I used to use Norton but whenever if found...

John Henry--The Next Blow Up ??

Yes, they were short because, before the stock market crash, the trend in prices was down. The Fed then cut rates sharply overnight following the crash and interest rate futures gapped massively up at the open (there was no overnight trading in interest rate futures at that time, even if there...

John Henry--The Next Blow Up ??

Yes, my mistake, it would take more than 35 trades. Re your example, this is the difference between open equity drawdown (i.e. you are still in the trade) and closed equity drawdown (i.e. when you actually exit the trade).

    Pit quotes

Yes, that's correct. Pit traded options don't operate like pit traded futures where someone is (almost) continually shouting a two way price and locals are trading with each other. In the option pit, locals generally respond to queries by brokers as to the bid/offer and size of a particular...

    Market Wizard- Ed Seykota

I have seen this figure bandied around elsewhere but what is the source? Or did someone just make this up? I emailed Ed some time ago asking him, amongst other things, what his track record was since the publication of Market Wizards. He answered my other questions, but not about his track...

John Henry--The Next Blow Up ??

Just my additional 2 cents... depends on how much per trade risked. If 1% was risked and all trades were losers then I would say less than 35 due to the effect of compounding.

    Housing Market Takes a Hit

Was wondering if the buyer knew, before he bought it, that it was Buffett selling it to him and if so, did he have any second thoughts before buying it.

    Good vs Bad Breakouts

The above comments are all very nice and provide plenty of food for thought. I would suggest though that they should not be relied upon at face value but that you conduct your own tests to verify them. Yep, hard work awaits you!

Good products for intraday system development?

I use Amibroker www.amibroker.com for my testing. Has all the attributes that you mentioned. You have to import in intraday data or you could use a real time feed (e.g. esignal, IB brokers).

Real Estate value doubles every 9 years? - need help

Excellent link. Should be very sobering for those who have the "prices can't go down since they ain't making any more of it" type thinking. I doubt if they are making any more land in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area...check out the price falls...
