at the same time i have no futures acct, just fx margin accts, there specifics wld be different.. but clearly 'segregation' breaks into v.different things depending on mkts / jurisdictions etc.... hope u r right re yr own situation

what makes u dead certain nothing can happen?? been spending part of the last 2 days delving into insolvency / segregated accts / client money rules etc b/w US & UK jurisdictions, not an easy read... say the group files for chap 11, freezes all accts even the segregated ones, how do you in...

dude, i have PAs and client monies with 5 brokers & 2 ECNs, incl fxcm, acm but not refco, i am trading all this stuff by myself, u think i have the time to read all the corporate junk that comes my way??? where do U find all the time may i ask, like can u give me the whole corp lowdown on FXCM...

what makes u think everybody shld know the org of refco as a whole??? care to post a corp org chart / roll-up tree perhaps? dont understand yr comment re having the time etc... all my clients except 2 have already pulled out, monies shld hit their accts tomorrow, why wldn't i have the time to...

still... it'll take weeks to the accountants to scrutinize all group's accts, off b/s ops etc... not many people r going to want to do biz with anything refco in the meantime don't u think? staff will leave at the first opportunity etc... how many weeks until all the other entities in the group...

anyone familiar with RCM corp. roll-up / ownership? at what point cld they or Refco LLC / Holdings be forced to go into chap 11 if only to let the dust settle??

better get yr money back now spreadmonkey... as lon eagle is saying there is likely to be a bad patch ahead, not just for refco, but potentially fxcm & acm too if clients close their accts in droves and these firms r left with non-insignificant fixed costs / overhead, have to cut staff etc...

...sympathize w some of the above re regulators going overboard etc particularly in the US, however as u say yrself yr scheme wld require willing investors who r prepared to trust u blindly and r ok with a 2-yr lock-in etc, also not sure how workable it is if u have 10+ investors for instance...
