Build Your Own - Step by Step ( i7 2600k)

Thanks for the reply :) A few questions... 1) Is it necessary to have a DVD-RW drive? Would the machine run faster without it? 2) Don't you have to have a video card in order to use even one monitor? 3) By chassis, I'm assuming that's the case to house all the components? Are there any...

Build Your Own - Step by Step ( i7 2600k)

Hi everyone :) This is my second time coming back to this (massive!) thread and it's the second time that I feel a little overwhelmed by some of the jargon being thrown back and forth! Although my current PC is keeping up with my trading the one market (e/u), recording software and a few...

Scalability of a profitable EUR/USD forex strategy.

Hi all, Just wondering what kind of size EUR/USD spot can handle before exiting at stops/limits becomes an issue. The approach is all-in-all-out and, as the distance between entry and stop(-6)/target(6+) are relatively small, not getting filled on all lots at or very near to the order...

    What are your Trading Breakthroughs?

    1) The true meaning of edge as something that has to be implemented in strict fashion over a large number of trades. 2) Not caring about what happens now but, rather, what happens over a long period of time. 3) The idea of viewing yourself from a second person point of view...taking note...

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

Seriously what..?? lol. Biggest myth in trading is that you need a super computer to do it. I trade 1 or 2 markets a few times a day so I just need something that works with a bit of screen real estate (couple 21-inch monitors). Regarding the once-a-year thing, I have been doing so with this...

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

I did manage to do the defrag, which helped a *lot*, and stopped some unnecessary programs from starting up with the machine...the removal of "crapware" I haven't been able/don't know how to do.... How would I do that?? Thanks for the feedback!

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

No to the search engines. Advice noted for the Fan noise :) How would I get to the Device Manager and, more importantly, what would I be looking for specifically?

    ego management

Agree completely with this idea. Spot on IMO. Here's relative reading, one of the best books on trading that's not about trading.... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Egonomics-Makes-Greatest-Expensive-Liability/dp/1847371221/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1333313034&sr=8-13 Truth Curiosity...

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

How can I stop software loading at startup and shut off all updates?? I know that this is probably a large part of the problem and the reason why it takes too long to reboot. Thanks for the advice.

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

I am weary of the fact that there may be a legitimate reason for the fan running at 100% and of the potential risks involved in artificially lowering the speed. But I feel as if that risk is low, knowing that the CPU temp isn't too hot. Since posting, I have opened up the PC and cleaned off...

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

I do indeed do a lot of printing. My main concern now is the fan running at full speed (see response to other reply in this thread regarding fan).

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

Thanks for the reply Bolimomo :) Yes, Windows XP home edition. I've tried to look at CPU usage- it's very low..0-2%. It'll jump briefly to as high as 30% ish when clicking around, opening documents and such. Under processes these are the top three: "system" "spoolsv.exe" "avp.exe"...

    Fairly new PC slowing down.

Hi guys/gals, :) 18 month old PC with decent spec (for what I'm doing...one market, no tick charts, 3-9 charts open at a time etc) seems to be grinding to a halt. Ridiculous delay in opening applications and general response time. I've tried going to a technician and he cleaned the...

Able to recognize good trading Opportunities....

Thanks for all the responses. Some of the different experiences and opinions give me new ideas for how I might improve/change some of the habits which are holding me back in my trading. Target0: I found your comments on targets and hindsight particularly helpful... :) I'll keep everyone...
