Reverse button? It suppose to reverse the trade position, doesn't it? Rather I would like to add more conditions on my stops.

    Setting stops

There are one may need to look at: 1) risk/profit ratio 2) probability 1) The higher the ratio, the more likely I will take the trade 2) The more likely the trade will succeed, the more likely I will take the trade. Now the point is my decision is governed by this 2 main factors. On...

Is it possible to reduce risk to zero?

No it is not 0 risk. There're a lot other non-strategy reasons you may lose money, fat-finger, silly mistakes and so on. They are also risks. But it should be the safest (least risk or come close to no risk one) way to trade, if you care to win every trade.

Is it possible to reduce risk to zero?

If you wish to have near 0 risk in every trade, arbitrage may be the answer. However I wonder if a retail or individual trader can compete with the institutional arbitragers. But if you don't look for a win in every trade but take a bunch of trades as 1 win/loss, the risk can be very small...

Why MARKET order can be filled at a price worse than price quote?

If you wish to have speedy execution (but not at all costs) in the above 3 cases, what orders do you use - "marketable" limit order (ie for a buy, send at a price at or above best ask), or market order?

    Trigger Method

====================== 1) Eg: As to DOUBLE, it requires 2 trades to trigger the stop. Is it possible to have some custom trigger method that, say it requires 10 trades to trigger stop? 2) Is it possible to have some custom trigger method which use time to trigger stop? Eg: if a trade...

    Which broker to chose?!

Forget J-trader unless you don't mind to trade with inferior platform (eg you don't really need all the fancy and advanced features, then it may be okay).

Why MARKET order can be filled at a price worse than price quote?

I wonder if it's better to send a "marketable" limit order (ie for a buy, send at a price at or above best ask), and avoid market order at all costs. it appears market orders have sorts of weird things. I would like to have fast exeuction, but not in a way where I get worse fills than the...

Why MARKET order can be filled at a price worse than price quote?

No. It is just a fictitious example. I don't trade bulletin board/pink sheet or penny stock. It looks to me they are an unfair and dirtier game. I trade middle-sized or big-sized stocks or futures.

Details of how each order type works

I see there are many order tpyes: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/orderTypesMatrix.php?ib_entity=llc#auction Actually how each order type works? I know the meaning of each order type. This is not what I'm asking. What I would like to know is how each order type works...

Why MARKET order can be filled at a price worse than price quote?

    1) As to MARKET order, I can't understand why I can get a worse fill than the price quote in the market. For example, if there's queue for the following: 0.24 x 13 <-- Best Bid ... 0.25 x 10 <-- Best Ask 0.26 x 20 0.27 x 25 The market is NOT under serious volilatity. I sent a buy...

IB passes $3 billion in liabilities in q2 2006

No, I don't think so. The word liabilities is misleading in this context since the $3,116,641,386 refers only to "Payable to customers". Others liabilities are exlcuded. The total liabilities are $3,245,016,934. The liabilities here in accounting do not equal to loans or something we need...

    HK online brokerage

Unlike US or international firms, no bank or firm in HK offer an all-inclusive plan. All are commission+cost, that is you have to pay for exchange and regulatory fees, in addition to the commissions. You may never heard of some of their fees and charges (eg they charge for share interests or...

IB Made an Error. Will They Fix It?

Dear cohenmichaela, I think you're doing a good job here. Although there's a strong criticism towards you, you do not appear to lose your temper and start another flame. What's more, you could also, as you said, think & read & learn from the critic, and responded calmly. This is the way people...

IB Made an Error. Will They Fix It?

Hey, OddTrader. But isn't it the room for improvement? If a customer misunderstands something or makes a mistake, does it justify someone to speak on a disrespectful and rude tone? Making a good laugh, belittling or crticising others because they are less knowledgeable than you is arrogant...

    Setting stops

They are here to hunt for your stops. It's best your stops being kept within your computer. By the way, is it trustworthy if the stop is stored in brokerage firm servers instead?

Do you trade other countries' stocks?

You probably open an international account, so you can trade in CBOT. Many firms should offer this exchange as it is very popular. I'm not sure if they accept Chinese traders. You have to ask.

    HK online brokerage

I still looking for an international firm which offers HK stocks. One may open accounts with local brokers. However they probably welcome HK residents only (or people who can visit their firms and open accounts). I think you are not living in HK.

Do you trade other countries' stocks?

Is IB the only firm which offer such a wide range of products worldwide? I couldn't find any alternative as far as its range of products is concerned. Unfortunately the only Asian stock market (I mean stock) it offers is Japanese. I would like to see more, like Hong Kong and Taiwan. Is...
