    Reporting results to family/partner

I like to get the big down days off my chest as soon as possible. Clear the decks, so to speak.

    Aaron chat

Are you, therefore, even more disturbed by the much greater drawdown and availability of tech stocks? Perhaps you think there should be new regulations to protect people from those? How about sector mutual funds? Perhaps only accredited people should be allowed into casinos? What makes you...

    Globex halted???

Yes, definitely. Or SPY's or SPX options. Fortunately the market seems to be in duller than usual midday doldrums -- nothing's moving much. But if Globex isn't up by the end of the day, you might want to hedge going into the final hour, especially if it looks like you'll get stuck holding a...

What does Optional777 have against Don Bright?

Optional777 is pretty obnoxious and flames almost everyone. He is generally critical and unconstructive. I don't think his vitriol is worth reading so I hit the ignore button on him long ago. I get the impression he must be a poor trader because he wants to drag everyone else down...

How is the E-mini future price determined?

If the market is open then the bid and ask won't be the same. Supply and demand are the only thing that determines the price. Of course there are a lot of sources of supply and demand (arbitrageurs, hedgers, speculators) and they aren't easy to forecast.

If you could have any job, what would it be?

I think I would like to be a hedge fund manager. -- unlimited upside potential -- be your own boss -- pick where to work from -- outsource as much or as little as you want -- involves lots of different skills and tasks -- good mix of quantitative and interpersonal work

    money equals happiness ???

Once you have your basic needs met there isn't much correlation between wealth and happiness. Although -- to be sure -- there still is some correlation between wealth and happiness. This is according to a scientific study I read about but don't recall where and can't reference. Stronger...

    Eurex Mistake on Dax

Thanks for posting, soho, and letting the rest of us learn from your experience. I'm not a networking expert, but it seems to me Eurex ought to be sending out every tick. Sure they do a lot of volume, but trade reports are small data packets and you can send out an awful lot of them every...

    Dow Eminis

I'd rather have a competitive marketplace and neither a US nor a European monopoly/duopoly. Too bad S&P controls who can market S&P futures. At least there is no trademark on Treasurys and currencies.

    PFG Trader Challenge

The PFG Challenge is advertised as a "CTA Challenge". Startup CTA's are self employed. Perhaps "Retail Firms" would be a more appropriate forum. I suggest you discuss it with the moderator if it is important to you. It is fine with me if you want to have the thread moved.
