    NYSE vs TSX

Axe, Maybe I was lucky with my very few executions, but TSX worked great for my small orders. My IB account is in US Dollars. When I trade on the TSX, IB loans me the CAN dollars. I can close this loan by converting the CAN dollars to US dollars (I haven't done this yet). Right now...

    NYSE vs TSX

ctrader, When I called IB they said that positions must be closed on the exchange it is opened on. So I am long 100 BNS (purchased on TSX) and short 100 BNS (sold on NYSE) at the same time in the same account. I'm just glad it isn't 10,000 shares at this point.

    NYSE vs TSX

Thanks Lescor, I understand what you are saying about the percent change, but these are the actual changes in this position at the time I put them on and now. The spread doesn't account for the much of the difference either. IB requires that the positions be closed on the same exchange...

    NYSE vs TSX

Quack, Thanks for the replies. When I put the positions on, I didn't make note of the exchange rates unfortunately. I thought that the prices would be arbed to reflect the exchange rate. Actually, I think they are - I haven't had too much change in the theoretical arb opportunity. The...

    NYSE vs TSX

Okay, I am officially confused. I must have set these positions up incorrectly for an arb, but I don't know what is wrong. Let's look at just one position: I sold 100 shares of BNS on the NYSE for 43.56 US I purchased 100 shares of BNS-TC on the TSX for 60.91 CAN At the time, based on...

    NYSE vs TSX

Thanks for the tips. What is confusing me is that my positions are trending apart. I will recheck my calculations, because this doesn't make since.

    NYSE vs TSX

The prices I gave are Canadian for TSX and American for NYSE the losses are after converting $C to $US. I think I may be making some sort of error in my calculations. If not I need to understand how the same stock can be up a much larger percentage on one exchange than the other.

    NYSE vs TSX

The few fills I have had on TSE have been instant and at the price quoted. I have only done 100 share lots until I get this figured out, but I have been impressed with the fills - much better than NYSE in my opinion. I am using the rates IB gives to calculate prices. I would expect arb...

    NYSE vs TSX

Since IB started offering Canadian stocks, I thought I would take a look at possible arb opportunities in stocks that are traded on both exchanges. I assumed that I would be lucky to make a few cents a share after commissions. When I looked at some charts, it looked like the prices varied more...

    TWS Build 802.3 problems?

Has anyone found a solution to the ticker limit combining the API and TWS? I tried to downgrade to 801, but I only seem to be able to downgrade to 802.3. Any suggestions? Right now I can't run my Excel worksheet because it says I am over the ticker limit. I have been working on the...

    U.S. and Canadian Traded Stocks

Thanks North Pesos, that's pretty much what I have been doing. I just thought there might be an easier way. Thanks for the tip.

    U.S. and Canadian Traded Stocks

Thanks easyguru, I guess I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I am looking for a list of stocks that trade on BOTH exchanges.

    U.S. and Canadian Traded Stocks

I am looking for a source that lists (preferably one that can be sorted) stocks that are traded on the Toronto exchange and NYSE or NASDAQ. I haven't been able to find a comprehensive list. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Free real-time TSX Quotes?

They are $9.00 a month, and I don't know if I even want to trade any Canadian stocks. I just wanted to take a look and see how some of them trade compared to the ADR's. It was a slow day for me, so I thought I would see if I could find someplace for free. Maybe I'll pay the $9. MSFE...

I still haven't found any free sources, maybe there aren't any. Any suggestions?

    Free real-time TSX Quotes?

Can anyone suggest a free source for real time TSX quotes? Now that IB is offering Canadian stocks, I would like to look at a few quotes, but I can't find a free source. Thanks for any help.

    DDE, is it good enough?

I have used DDE links to Excel worksheets for quite a while. I have used three or four different data suppliers, and have never had any real problems related to the DDE. There may very well be better ways to go, but it has worked fine for me (I am not a real computer guy).

    Pairs Trading Strategy Model

I have been considering this a lot lately. I just finished closing a position for about $6,000 profit, but I was in it for weeks, and at one point I was down about $30,000. I don't think this is wise, so I am going to wait longer to put on positions and add to the position much less...

    Emini divergence journal

Nice thread. I am a little confused though, are you trading real dollars, or paper trading? Sometimes it sounds like you are actually executing the trades, and sometimes you seem to be estimating slippage, so I am a little confused. Good luck.

I was disconnected briefly, but came back up in less than a minute. All seems to be well now.
