Trading Lingo for the 21st Century

Aristotle believed that "nature abhors a vacuum." Certainly ET abwhores a vacuum in posting. Specifically Jack's absence (although I do believe we need a new word "absense" to describe it). The man surely had a way with word coinage. So in my one-man quest to lure him back to correct my...

    Trading as a Soap Opera

In today's episode, hypocritical Mrs. Retrace drops in on Mr. Price after lunch, and to her horror finds saucy Miss Ema on top of Mr. Price repeatedly being penetrated by his spiky thrusts. Sternly she admonishes her: "Miss Ema, try to show a little resistance!" Miss Ema replies tartly: "I'd...

Will a 5GB data plan be enough for active trading?

Excellent points. My fastest chart is one second, and I am significantly under each month. Looking at the stats for this AM, my max VZ download rate was 1.5 MB/sec, not shabby for wireless. T never even came close to that.

Will a 5GB data plan be enough for active trading?

I have a similar problem in MY single-wide. What aggravates me about the VZ modem and SW is the time to restart after a dropout. Have to unplug the modem. Kill the SW. Plug in the modem. Start the SW. Wait for connection. Maybe a minute. Only reason I am keeping the VZ and not going back to T is...

Will a 5GB data plan be enough for active trading?

Depends on where you are. I used AT&T wireless internet for years and it varied from no droupouts to totally unasable depending on where in the country I was. And the company couldn't give a shit less what kind of service you get.

Will a 5GB data plan be enough for active trading?

Same for me. Never suck more than about 800MB per day trading multiple screens of NQ with a couple of other symbols for reference. But beware of dropouts. I quit AT&T because of excessive dropouts, and I am not totally satisfied with VZ. AT&T's plan is unlimited, so you might try to find out how...

    Temporary "Tells"

Glucklich, when ego is involved how can one tell the difference between a thesis and an observation? But it's what I do. When I am nursing an early position I need powerful distractions to keep me from enervation and doubt. And what is more potently time-wasting and mind-dulling than reading and...

    Temporary "Tells"

ET posting frequency is one. I believe that most ET posters want to get into a good position and hold it for hours during the day. Once they get that position, they only need to nurse it, and they have plenty of time to post. If they don't find that position, they stay alert to the possibility...

    Tara's Thread

Tara, you noticed that Tums and Kneesox both stopped posting the same day? Could it be? Naaah! Not on ET!

    What's in a Word?

Here is a condensed transcript of my latest trading therapy intervention technique: Deco to Client: "I have designed a new trading screen for you. On top is a new measure I call Prolume. Don't worry about how I constructed it. You buy when Prolume is low, and sell when Prolume is high."...

    Generations of ET

I have long maintained that you cannot truly understand someone until you have slept with them. To that I add: or been forced to listen to the music they like.

    Generations of ET

Jack's is: "He's the boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B!" Mine is: "Johnny's in the basement mixing up the medicine!" What's yours?

    TeasinggTara on Technical Strategy

I will add to the right honorable Mr. Jackson's observations this little trick I learnt from Jack. There is always a problem of attention when trading in one time frame whose properties are influenced by another. An example, for those who watch volume forming in five minutes, is wondering how...

TW, thank you for your thoughtful post, and especially for that real-life example. As for you, Infolode, do you know what the little bumpy secondary nipples around a woman's main nipple are for? They're Braille for "Suck here!"

Nik, I take great umbrage at that. Tara is the girl of my dreams. Warm. Witty. Sophisticated. English. Busty. Maybe even blonde. We could spend may a long evening together before a fire delightfully debating the demerits of SCT. Afterward I would hope to get what SCT traders get.

Overspool, you are not as old as I am (hardly anybody is). See this weblet: The Question: Is it "A historian" or "AN historian"? I've seen both. The Answer: This is a contested question. Let's start with the basics. A word starting with a vowel sound is preceded by "an," no matter how...

Indeed. But I do not recall seeing evidence that math is hardwired into brain function like language is.

    TeasinggTara on Technical Strategy

TeTa, a sterling (pun intended) analysis so far! Since you obviously have a more than passing interest in the area of unconscious persuasion, sometime you might look up Milton Erickson. Jack uses his technique of embedding commands or suggestions in nonsense verbiage. The difficulty is that...
