    The Surf Report

Care to say how much of your account % wise you are risking on this trade? What do you consider "nice size" relative to your account?

    The Surf Report

    - Am not so sure the oil short was a great trade... the way I remember it, at the end, it was a 2R trade, that is a win of twice the risk he took. Which is rather common and in no way great. A 10 R Trade is a great trade. Meaning the stop had to be so many points away that either he risked a...

To the software experts: WHICH SOFTWARE can help me do this??

Thanks! Just to clarify, I decide the risk grade (very safe or conservative, and safe- others I dont take) by a series of factors, but the factors are combined in different ways to give strength... basically, all I want is to be sure that I go through my checks... is quite logical, but am not...

To the software experts: WHICH SOFTWARE can help me do this??

I am looking to do the following- I want to basically create a custom format which is both a CHECKLIST for my entries and exits, but also a JOURNAL: 1. I have a system with clear criteria for entry and exit 2. The criteria follow a sequence, such as the first one eg. "are we in a Bull or Bear...

Lunch we me @ IN & OUT!

One day try the burger at DB Bistro in New York. Expensive- yes- but an amazing concoction by a french chef (Daniel Bouloud), suffused with foie gras, brisket and I don't know what. Costs about 30 dollars I think, but is actually worth it I think, had one last week.

What order do you use to get in

Market: ES, Timeframe: Intraday. Not scalping, just trades holding for a few points, about 2- 3 trades per day. I got Buttontrader (which I like very much), but am probably not using them as well as once could. They have an option where the front-end places a limit order on the bid (for a...

Order entry front end for IB-suggestions...

I mean Buttontrader (was omitted from my previous post)... should have said: "Buttontrader, without a doubt"...

Order entry front end for IB-suggestions...

without a doubt ... for me. Used to use NT, but it used to hang, lag, whatever, especially on the Euro- not acceptable. The feature of setting a limit buy entry at the bid and have it autochase the market is worth the price alone, IMO. Forget TWS.

    surfers $$ journal

By whatever method- prediction, alchemy, luck or whatever, Surfer got himself out of this monster with a profit... good for you! Perhaps there is a way of picking tops, and it might be very ballsy, but at what price? 1.Your stop must be 200 points away. Are you expecting to make 400...

    Money can't buy happiness

    1. I met quite a few very rich people in my life who were anything but happy (or admirable, if you looked below the surface). I work in my own company and some of my clients are very rich: owners of their own worldwide fashion companies which bear their name etc. Some of them are downright...

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

Interesting post. And yes, of course: since Marketpaddler (I changed the name since there are no waves to be surfed, just random movements) by his own admission endorsed a book that he apparently completely disagrees with for reasons of "professional courtesy" - Quote: "It earned a spot in my...

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

First of all, no, my last initial is not "C". Not even close. And it is not by "chance" that it is a different initial either. Be careful with your terminology...there was a definite, measurable movement of my parents towards each other that created that initial... statistically improbable yet...

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

"We know that prices move up and down. They always have and they always will. My theory is that behind these major movements is an irresistible force. That is all one needs to know. It is not well to be too curious about all the reasons behind price movements. You risk the danger of clouding...

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

"This is an excellent book that I highly recommend...No, there are no secrets in it, but it's extremely well written and contains many nuggets of knowledge from a multitude of top traders. I enjoyed it more than the Market Wizard books. It earned a spot in my 10 all-time favorite trading books."...

POLL - Futures: How do you determine the trend?

Since I post here mostly for entertainment value... I couldn't help but notice that the plot thickens: Firstly, it is nice to see that Magna is doing such a fine job of protecting the poor marketsurfer (who by now looks more like a guy without shorts clinging to the rocks and yelling for the...
