    Tennessee has mild weather and no income tax, but there is some tax on dividend and interest. Has anyone considered northwest Texas, like Amarillo? Weather is not hot there.

    If you want to move to Texas or Florida, avoid the hurricane area. Don't forget part of Houston had to be evacuated last year, and the Panhandle area of Florida was hit hard in 2004.

    I think segregated customer accounts are the safest, no one else can touch it. The bank cannot lend the fund, that's why you need to buy t-bill to earn interest.

    You should not buy t-bills with all the cash balance. 70% may be ok, assuming your loss would be no more than 30%.
