    Chart replay

A related question, is there a software that'll allow market replay at varying speed using downloaded historical tick data (i.e. from www.tickdata.com)? Ninja has a market replay, but you need to save the data from real-time, which imo, kinda defeats the purpose. I'm currently leasing...

Hardest and Most Valuable Things In Trading

The 'AHA' that transitioned me from a losing gambler to a small, but consistently, profitable trader: Confidence in my system. As a noob trader, who has been involved to some degree as a gambler in the financial markets in the last 7 years, it took a complete change of mindset to realize...

difference between regular HA and smoothed HA

I've seen reference to smoothed HA (Heiken Ashi) bars during my research, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what the difference is from the regular HA bars. Could anybody shed some light on this issue? Also, the default indicator that comes with NT, is that regular or smoothed...

Ninja Trader with downloaded tick data

Thats a shame to hear :( I've heard some good things about NeoTicker's replay feature, but I was hoping NT could be a one-stop shop. Its not so much the cost, but the pain in the ass to learn a whole new setup. Thank god I found out early, otherwise, I would've paid for a lifetime...

Ninja Trader with downloaded tick data

Hi, Is it possible to download the tick data from say www.tickdata.com, import it into NT 7, and build historical intra-day volume based charts with it? I'm looking to do some manual bar by bar analysis. Don't need a real market replay - I don't mind hitting the arrow at the bottom of the...

Ninja Trader and backtesting intraday chart

Is it possible to use Ninjatrader to load say the 5-min chart from a particular day, and have it play back bar by bar either automatically, or with a keypress (i.e. basically simulate the price action on that day). I heard Sierracharts can do something like this, but I'm pretty happy with NT...

Help! Technical indicator for high velocity move on huge volume?

Could a TA expert help me out please. I'm looking for an indicator that shows huge percentage moves (in one direction) over the past couple of days on unusual volume. I'm thinking RSI or Stochastics, but I'm not too well versed in how they work, or how they might be useful in identifying what...

Average of 5 pt a day trading ES realistic?

I've been here, following and digesting the comments, just didnt have much to contribute since. I did a little bit more study on the quiet periods of the market - 5pts is pretty tough to eke out during low volatility. Perhaps I'm looking at this the wrong way, as some posters have suggested...

Average of 5 pt a day trading ES realistic?

I've been involved in some way with the investing world for the past 10 years, and while I've had experience in swing trading (with mixed results), I realized that I'm less keen about the stress of holding overnight positions as I got older! So, here I am thinking about compressing my trading...

    Fundamental Data

Thanks for the replies, the community here is awesome! I'm gonna check out the Yahoo add-in, Excel is just such a fantastic tool, and I love the way I can put data together. Might check out Amibroker too. From what I can tell from some of the threads here, its a pretty cool software. -Nick

    Fundamental Data

Hi all, I'm trying to build a watchlist with fundamental data (Price/Cash , Mkt Cap, EPS, etc stuff you can find in Yahoo Finance) on an Excel spreadsheet. Instead of typing the stuff in 1-by-1, does anyone know of a data source whereby I can use Excel DDE to populate my list? I don't mind...

Charting software linked to IB TWS

Does anyone know of a charting software that can output TWS data? What I mean is instead of linking to the build-in (Java) charts, I would like to be click on a symbol on TWS and have it display on the external charts. My TWS keeps jamming up, and not loading new charts until maybe 1-2...

1162 is Limit Up - getting close

any old timers here remember what happens when the mkt limits up? Does it continue to rally reopen, or sell of? From a quick count, theres only about 6 occurences of the mkt closing >5%, and they're all from the 2000 and 2008 rebounds

Alternative to IB Scanner + charting

Hi all, I'm using the TWS real-time market scanner, which gets the job done very well. The problem I have is with TWS charts. It takes forever to refresh new charts whenever I select a security (I have 4 linked to the main window) - sometimes as long as a minute before anything appears...
