    Drawdowns

As long as you have a plan for the trade in all its possibilties then you will be ok. Random decisions are what cause problems. .. I am always prepared to limit or prevent my loss if see a trade going against me ......

    Seeking advice

Go work for peanuts as a traders assistant or on the floor of an exchange for a couple years and you will learn part of the answer to this question ...... The current president of the CME worked on the floor as a clerk for about a year - after doing so at the CBOE. The managing director of...

    LINUX goes GLOBAL

and today as well .... heck even young wippersnappers can learn C++ - and other modern open languages and tools - and how to engineer reusable code that is valuable ..... Funny how that can occur without $soft, $racle, $bm and other big name companies huh ? Of course, some people believe...

    LINUX goes GLOBAL

This is a viable development product ... as is the Glade analogue for Gnome. I developed software long before we had these very nice IDE's and we were able to get everything engineered and tested properly then .... and even without $soft or Borlands nice IDE's we can still put together...

Is Cramer Just a Moron, his calls on INTC

I agree .... and I am not saying his advice had any merit ..... merely that people are not always right on their calls and get stuck waiting .... drawdowns do happen .. its part of the game.. of course advising people into drawdown situations is none too wise....

Is Cramer Just a Moron, his calls on INTC

A thirty point drop on a 300 dollar stock is 10 percent. Big deal. I've lived through ten percent drops on a position - and sometimes waited six months or more to make my money although this is a long time to hold a position because of a mistake. Cramers only wrong if the stock doesn't recover...

    start up cash

OK .... I will say something that you need to hear and that you should already know given your doctorate path ....... Many Phd's believe that their studies somehow make them invincible and that they can pick up anything without too much effort. ...... which is why they are not always the...

    Promotion or Trade?

Think you can get to Senior VP or corporate board at that company, or will the promotion deinitely lead strongly down that path ? If you are on a promotion track and/or you wont be sure until to tackle this job then stick with it .... only leave the industry if you truly feel your path there is...

    LINUX goes GLOBAL

...havn't had this issue but then we made a very serious decision to divest ourselves of $soft and $racle as quickly as possible. There was a cost to this initially. Now we are very productive within the development environment and we are free of monopolistic practices and threats to our...

    LINUX goes GLOBAL

They are not $soft - which has one of the nicest IDE's but Eclipse is pretty good and it can be customized to your liking - if you are willing to do most of the work. There are a number of open source tools which when combined, allow a decent development toolbox to be constructed - more than...

    LINUX goes GLOBAL

In addition to the excellent promotional graphic.... Let me add that we run most - but not all - of our database systems on mysql rather than $racle, $soft sql server , $ybase or $b2. We only use any of the $list if an application or vendor requires it and in these instances such...

    LINUX goes GLOBAL

Our own studies show that Linux is much, much cheaper than the $soft option on both desktops and servers. On servers its a no brainer to run mail, DNS, webservers (Apache) and even things like directory services on Linux: better performance and much much lower cost. The desktop equation is more...

    massacre in after hours

I agree ... to a point .......The range market as you call it just calls for a bit of a change in strategy. However I dont approach it in the way you seem to imply. I dont use any type of leap of faith, rather, I change my entry and exit strategy - usually with more entries and exits than would...

ET Reception at Chicago Traders Expo

There was some interesting content .... I could not attend but sent one of my assistants. Look, conferences are social events, no matter how "technical" they claim to be : the technical emphasis is a well known marketing tool, particularly with respect to certain demographic targets.
