Will ADX keep me out of sideways market? Better alternatives?

Right. But I noticed that when ADX shows strong trend, this trend is very often already mature and is coming to it's end. Good trending days are rare and for me method of finding a possible trend in early stages, by analyzing price action (pivot highs/lows and trendlines) and MA slope as a...

Why scalping beats any other trading style

Good for you. I can't say I'm able to consistently extract $200 per contract for 20 minutes of trading. I agree though that sitting exactly 6 hours is not needed. If you have enough skills to make enough money during the first and last hours of day you don't need to sit in front of screen for...

Where does everyone live/trade and how old.

28, Novosibirsk, Russia (but most likely will move to Prague, CZ soon). Mostly trade CBOT/CME traded futures (YM is the favourite, then goes ER2 and some other CBOT and CME products), but also NYSE and NASDAQ traded stocks and forex.

Will ADX keep me out of sideways market? Better alternatives?

My own experience: it is very lagging, especially during non-trending days when there are several mini-trends that can be exploited, but ADX won't help here, cause when it begins to show trend it is most likely already over. So I prefer trendlines and MAs for purpose of identifying trend.

Why scalping beats any other trading style

Mark Douglas in his "Trading in The Zone" said something like (don't remember exactly, but remember an idea): when you have an edge the only thing you should care about is having your trade setups represented as often as possible. That's why I think scalping is more profitable (in the case of...

    YM liquidity question...

Day trading. Trades last average 5-15 min. Stops are around 5-6 ticks most of the time.

    YM liquidity question...

Thanks Aaron, I watch ask size/bid size and depth and can roughly estimate average liquidity, but it would also be great to hear from people who actively trade this instrument how it goes in reality... I currently trade YM and grow quite fast, so it would be good to know when approximately...

    YM liquidity question...

Hello everyone - I've got a question to experienced YM traders: what size can it be traded intraday to not get too much of a slippage (more than 1 tick)? Thanks in advance! Janis

I figured out how to sell my system, all are welcome to come and BID

BTW I also disagree that system that cannot be automated is not a system. Though I'd prefer a term "method", but anyway. Personally I'm very happy that my own method absolutely cannot be automated, cause otherwise someone with much more money than I have could somehow find out how I trade...

I figured out how to sell my system, all are welcome to come and BID

What's your % of a bankroll risk per trade, Confused? P. S. I'm not going to buy any system simply because I spent enough time to develop my own which I'm quite happy with, but anyway interesting to know about systems which double the money in couple months.

    Point Break Charts

I experimented with Point Break charts once (it was three line break) and found out that it's hard to use them intraday since they are based on closing prices and it's very difficult to exactly control risk. Also choppy periods are very harmful for this kind of trading. Maybe there are...

leading Indicators, in before everyone else

It's not a "bad trade" it's INCREDIBLY bad risk management. To risk profits from 6 MONTHS on ONE TRADE... I did something similar (losing 1/3 of acct) only in the very beginning of my learning to trade. :)

    Consider or not overnight data?

Thanks for great idea Lindy! I tried to use tick and volume charts instead of time based and it really reduced the noise while showing overnight activity very well. Will try to experiment with P&F charts as well...

    Consider or not overnight data?

Thanks a lot for opinions. So far I decided to consider all 24h data, cause I watch both European and US markets (begin my trading day with european session and continue with US) and psychologically perceive them much like one mega-market with it's own trends etc. And to consider gaps I...

    Consider or not overnight data?

Hello everyone - I ask experienced people to help me to solve the following dillema: consider or not overnight data when trading US futures? From one side mostly moves with enough volume have meaning, but from the other side YM for example tends to follow European indices during...
