How much training is required before you can make consistent profits?

I like that quote, cause it's really true. Instead concentrating on how long it would take to get profitable, people should concentrate on learning. Cause if the time frame comes w/o you turning postive, it can have a negative mental effect. 6 months is an average, some poeple take a year...

How much training is required before you can make consistent profits?

Those guys lost alot of money for a long time before they became good traders. Many of them were wiped out several times. They also traded 100 of millions to billions of dollars. Most started out in salaried positions, so they had the time to get good w/o leaving for another career. It takes...

How much training is required before you can make consistent profits?

If you get into a good program, it would take you about 6 -12 months before you start making 400 - 500 a day consistently. I think the five year time frame was referred to longer term trading. Those guys took huge positions, not the several hundred or thousand share position a day trader will.

Ever Tempted to Buy and Hold?

The problem I see with buy and hold strategies these days, is that money moves in and out so fast that companies tend to get overvalued as soon as the story on the company comes out. As we saw with the dot com bubble, stocks built in 20 years of fundamentals. In the past, and we'll get back to...

    Island's Fees & Rebates

That most likely depends on the volume the broker is doing through them, so there would be differences between brokers.

    Traders Education

That's why I said, you have to read everything to get the education to be a successful trader. I've found that guys that come from top colleges tend to over complicate the trading process and have harder times.

    Trade Confirmations??

You can either request the brokerage to send them to you electronically or file them away. If you get audited, you will need the paper copies if they aren't being stored electronically by your broker. Or you'll have to pay, in most cases, the brokerage to send you copies later if you thrown...

    silly tax question

You don't have to re-type all your trades on the Schedule D. You can just sum it up. But you still have to attach the list of trades with the gains and losses that tie to the number you put on Schedule D to the return. Options are not reported to the IRS, so if you want to be aggressive, you...

    Quotes

Would it be possible, on the home page to put dynamically updating quotes of the different markets, as well as the ND, SP, and DJI futures? This way when we log onto Elite, we can get a snapshot of what's going on in the foreign and futures markets. That would really be convenient instead of...

    So many cookies

Once, I set my settings to prompt me everytime a cookie was being put on my PC, and I spent wasteless minutes clicking ok. It was like being fired at with an ak47, with an unlimited clip. It's fun just to try!!! But you'll stop it real quick, cause it gets real annoying. I thought I was the...

    Technical Question ...

When you interview with a firm, find out if their lines run direct to the exchanges or if they route their orders through another server somewhere else. For you to get a line directly into the exchange would probably require you to lease a seat on the exchange and be a broker dealer. And the...

    Traders Education

Undergrad degree in accounting. But your education doesn't really matter. It's all about dedication, willingness to learn EVERYTHING, and HARD WORK!! I've seen guys with high school degrees make it big, they were willing to put in the work needed.

the state of on-line brokerages-- a theory

If you read alot of the posts on this message board, everyone is thinking that we need to go lower before we can go higher. Am i the only one that thinks this maybe a signal that we have bottomed. As for volatility, the indexes are moving around, but individual stocks have very short lived...

Do you feel bad? Should you?

Actually, usually I don't, but sometimes, I found out later in the day, that someone in my firm was on the wrong side of one of my trades, and I pummeled him into oblivion. He was trying to get out, and I was moving the stock to no ends. Kinda makes me laugh to, cause usually they entered the...

Do you feel bad? Should you?

It's ok to feel bad, as long as it doesn't effect your trading, by giving up profits or taking huge losses cause you feel you're stealing from someone. It's only human nature. No need to pick on Tampa for having a good heart.
