Americans are Poorer. The United States Misery Index Rises Again

How shall we interpret this? Should we, therefore, just be hanging about waiting for the Danes, Norwegians and Sweds to spontaneously acquire the wealth distribution of the Americans? And how about communism, isn't that an extreme form of socialism? Some, perhaps all, communist, New World...

Americans are Poorer. The United States Misery Index Rises Again

By debt I assume you mean so-called, federal government debt. The government only appears to have debt from the perspective of the private sector lender who, again from their private sector perspective, appears to be loaning money to the government at interest. Looked at from a disembodied...

The most damning case against Joe Biden

Let's give her another 5. She still very young.

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

Thanks. You might appreciate this. Its a nice review of the chaos that's resulted from attempts to unravel the apparently unravelable: https://scienceofclimatechange.org/wp-content/uploads/Clark-2024-Nobel-Prize-Errors.pdf This quote below, from page 15, will give you hint of the fun that...

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

Indeed, I am happily retired. Retire as soon as you find it possible. You'll never regret it and will soon discover that you pick up the necessary skills rather easily. In fact, in seemingly no time at all you'll find you've become an expert at it.

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

Actually the situation with regard to the one paper of Miskolczi I referenced is the opposite of what you state. Miskolczi paper is based on observation data supplied by NOAA which contradicts the theoretical computations. Again, if you can supply a literature reference or two, it would be...

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

Does such a thing exist? There seems to be overwhelming evidence that the climate has changed dramatically over the past 4.5 billion years!, with absolutely no evidence that it has stopped changing. Logic would suggest that the climate will continue to change but at a slowing pace as the solar...

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

We will just have to disagree. Most likely sometime after both of us are dead it will be known for certain whether Miskolczi or Hansen, et al. is right, perhaps neither, regarding the role of CO2 . I won't be around to have the pleasure of saying "I told you so!". I appreciated Overnight's...

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

You misunderstood, I was referring to CO2's affect on prices (in a light hearted way), not its affect on Earth's surface temperature. The latter also appears to be negligible by the way.

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

I thought the article I referenced below might interest you. As you may know, as a scientist I have been strongly critical of the quality of James Hansen's work coming from GISS [Hansen is now at Columbia]. The peer reviewed paper referenced below calls into question Hansen's assumption of...

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

It's hard to argue with climate change. It's been changing for ~4.5 billion years so far. If it stops changing that will be a bad sign. I wonder what inflation was like 4.5 billion years ago? I guess prices must have been negative back then. Maybe car prices will drop if we have a cold...

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

Of all the crazy ideas for sequestering CO2 I've heard bantered about, I have yet to hear anyone suggest planting grass and trees for this purpose. This revolutionary idea could definitely use more press. Maybe it's just too complex for it to be given serious thought.

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

We haven't been told when yet, but by late September seems a good bet, until late September arrives. Then the date will have to be moved to next Spring. I'm hoping to get a jump on this. I've been looking into farmland above the Arctic circle. On a more serious note, I've been living in...

Climate change is pushing up food prices — and worrying central banks

Climate change is not pushing up food prices. There is no measurable climate change effect, at least since we learned we were dying from climate change. (The popular media can never say, "we don't know why!". There always has to be a reason.) If we have no idea why, we make up a reason, e.g...

How to Profit from Central Bank Policy

This is essential knowledge. The timing is an important consideration. Inflation increases nominal earnings and nominal asset prices (equities are assets). Then, typically, the Central bank reacts with interest rate increases.

    Russia & Ukraine

You're not obligated to explain why you don't want the U.S. government to contribute to Ukraine's war effort. But if you do, why not attempt to be rational?

    Russia & Ukraine

Your response is not only illogical, it's also inconsistent. . You claim to be unconcerned about what evil the Russian government is doing to it's own people because the people of Russia "elected" its autocratic leader; yet you aren't concerned about what Russia is doing to Ukraine even though...
