    Order Execution

When I was a market maker, I was exempt from marking my orders. I'm not sure what value this has to the exchange or the OCC.

    Order Execution

It's my understanding that this is an exchange rule. So if this is that big a deal to you, you need a trading platform that can have an automatic function to constantly update your orders with the proper tag. Not an easy thing to do, considering you can enter multiple orders at different price...

    Order Execution

Correct. You are expected to properly tag your orders BTO, STO, BTC or STC. Eg. I BTO 100 calls. I then want to place an order to sell 200 calls. I first enter sell 100 to close, then sell 100 to open. This is a requirement from the exchanges.

    Best brokerage for limit orders.

If you are going to use rithmic, they have their own servers and IT hosting. At least they did last year.

    ES will drop 200 pts

In my experience, large drops like this rarely happen when we expect it. I prefer to trade the market we have rather than the one I expect.

Know of a brokerage that allows /ES futures in an IRA?

I'm not recommending trading futures to anyone with their IRA. Not my place to do that. The question was, how can I use my IRA to trade futures. I gave a path to that, that I used and it works well.

    Buy side vs Sell side

In general, the sell side jobs that pay salaries+commissions, will expect you to bring in a book of business either from another firm, or very soon. I've heard stories of people being hired then let go in 6 months from lack of production.

Know of a brokerage that allows /ES futures in an IRA?

I'm 55 years old and have enough funds in my Roth to play. So for me, this is much better than trading in a personal account. Futures are more pure than their ETFs so I like them better. I can also sell futures to open but can't sell short in an IRA.

Know of a brokerage that allows /ES futures in an IRA?

I work for Victor Securities as an Introducing Broker. I have a Roth IRA that I wanted to do some trading in and allocate to a few CTAs. I opened an account at Midland IRA. Midland IRA is a self-directed retirement plan administrator. I then transferred my Roth IRA to them from TD. Then I opened...

    ES will drop 200 pts

Interesting. Is that paired with any longs or are you just betting down?

    ES will drop 200 pts

So you are short ES contracts? What have you done to play this? What percentage of your account are you willing to lose if you are wrong?

Trading On The Open and Accurate Open/High/Low

Each stock is listed on a primary exchange. Route your orders to the primary exchange and get the open or close from those exchanges. These should help: http://www.nasdaq.com/screening/company-list.aspx https://www.nyse.com/listings_directory/stock

    Low commission for retail traders

It is a tough way to make a living unless your are an automated equity market maker doing large volume. The last time I meet manual traders making money doing this was back during the financial crisis when Citibank was a low priced stock trading a few billion shares a day. There were hundreds of...

    Strategy/spread scanning

I was a real question. I have used option scanners myself including LiveVolPro. I have had clients use equity scanners. It's not clear to me that they provide value. So I'm just asking if they have been profitable to anyone. TWS or any other one. Do they help provide an edge? They did not for...

Why I don't see my IB orders on my TDA platform level II?

I only used TWS for a short time. I had issues with option spread orders not going to market, but never equity orders.

Has anyone here made money consistently from these tools?

Why I don't see my IB orders on my TDA platform level II?

Not what I expected. Next time it happens, take a screen shot of TWS and TOS and ask IB why your orders are not reaching any exchange or ECN on the consolidated tape. You might have to change from smart to choosing an ECN.
