    New Indicator

Yes, but nobody wants your stuff while Jack, on the other hand, has the biggest following on ET (if you don't believe me, ask him)! So to paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen: Hypostomus, I've been on Usenet with Jack Hershey. I've been on ET with Jack Hershey. I know Jack Hershey from his posts. And...

    Trading system results overview

This is exactly why people need to stay away from metrics they don't understand. The examples "man" has given are perfectly plausible and shouldn't surprise anyone. Unless, of course, they're under the mistaken impression that Sharpe and PF measure the same thing. Profit factor is a very...

    Value of Backtesting and Stops

You can't do it so it can't be done? Now who's deluding who about the "holly grail?"

    Value of Backtesting and Stops

Well said! Testing (back and fwd) is immeasurably useful, if and only if performed properly. Warning: KIDS DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!! I say that because the vast majority are unwilling and/or unable to learn how to do it right. Kind of pathetic but that's why there are so many losers... all...

Would you say that an AM radio has a problem because it doesn't receive FM? PF doesn't try to boil an equity curve down to a single number... it's a very simple measure of profit/loss and that's about it. Useful only as a screen in conjunction with other metrics and certainly not a substitute...

    Trading system results overview

You're kidding, right? If your understanding of something as simple as PF is so flawed, how can you ever hope to understand Sharpe? It is WELL KNOWN that Sharpe can mislead... even Sharpe himself said: "Sharpe ratios can give a false sense of precision and lead people to make predictions...

    Trading system results overview

Sorry mister man but profit factor doesn't try to quantify the smoothness of an equity curve. It simply measures how many dollars/euros/whatever a system has made for each one lost. And it does that just fine. So how is it flawed if it doesn't do something it wasn't designed for? That's like...

    Trading system results overview

No offense AskQuestions but profit factor and payoff ratio are both incredibly simple metrics and if you don't understand them, I highly recommend reading up on them until you can easily answer your question on your own. You definitely want at least that level of understanding before trading...

"Edge Challenge" - prove us wrong!!

Trade Jack Hershey's really kewl SCT and you can make 4% to 7% per day, according to Jack and his disciples. Hint: think Boolean.

    ET's best traders

Jack Hershey does 4% to 7% PER DAY! If you don't believe me, just read his posts or ask his disciples.

Yes or No:"Fully hedged portfolios are not risk free"?

I think your definition of hedging is way too narrow. For example, sometimes it makes more sense to protect a long stock trade with puts than to use a stop... granted, your potential upside will be reduced by the cost of the puts but it's still theoretically unlimited while your downside risk...

Yes or No:"Fully hedged portfolios are not risk free"?

ROTFLMAO!!!! Let me get this straight... me giving you a much needed reality check is "hurting ET's business" BUT you posting hilarious, unsubstantiated claims of greatness and slandering Warren Buffett is good for ET's business? You miss my point entirely you STUPID JACKASS. Warren...

Yes or No:"Fully hedged portfolios are not risk free"?

Yeah, right! And you also have the colossal ignorance to dis Warren Buffet... does your mother know you're accessing the internet? "But Warren has only matched the stock market last 10 years. Buffett is, first and foremost, a carefully constructed cult."...

Steve46 and Hypostomus Debate Trading Strategy

Like the illogical way you pretend that you and Jack can trade while those who criticise his Boolean ballyhoo can't, because that's what you need to believe? But deep in your heart you know it's the other way around? The offer's still open... you and Jack vs. me, live on ET... that is, if...

    Anti-Jack Trading

And there will be annual pilgrimages to Tucson... and stores across the land will sell tiny plastic llamas, 3-ring binders and Grob109 gliders... and George Boole and all things Boolean will be revered.

    Anti-Jack Trading

Jack may very well be THE guru of the millennium (or century AT LEAST). I can easily picture Grobian scholars in the distant future, poring carefull over archives of Jack's posts wondering "what would Jack have done?" or looking at a recent theory or idea and declaring it un-Grobian.

I've offered several times and the offer's still open. How about it Jack?

    Anti-Jack Trading

I have serious doubts about easyrider's success... if you check his posts, there's nothing about it until, all of a sudden, he needed "proof" to defend Grobian teachings.

    Anti-Jack Trading

Backtesting tools have become more and more sophisticated. In the "olden days" vendors and Svengalis could claim just about anything. The trading public started calling them on it WAY more when the first TA software came out. Now almost anyone can backtest almost any idea, to include those...
