The tide is turning for the specialists!!!

I don't see that the system is broken. At least with the specialist system you have only one beast to worry about taming. More importantly, i feel the the current system is far more fair than nasdaq for most traders. Compare price moves on NYSE to that of the Nasdaq, and one will most...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

Today was rough on OO, but the month of september while not terrific was at least moderately profitable. Mike

Are there any firms that DON'T charge their traders $1,000 per training session?

If you only have $1000 to back your business, you are better off sending me half of that money, and keeping half for yourself, in the end you will wind up $500 richer than if you started trading. While I seriously believe that someone with little or no capital, and no trading experience...

    great day

Getting a good print on a ultra thin stock like ESCA is one thing, unloading your position at those prices is another. What kind of position are you carrying?

Cut out the upgrade & down grade!!

Here's a thought, instead of whining about the analyst upgrade and downgrades, why not look for the notable cues in the tape. Often times, the tape action will give clear a clear indication of what news is to come. The information is there, you just have to look for it! Once you find it, you...

    Pairs Trading Commission Help

Each 100 share entry into and out of a pair is 4 trades. Buy, SS,Cover, Sell. You are basically trading 400 shares * .01 per share=$4 per trade per pair. Add to that, the SEC fees of about .20 per share, and you get a grand total of $4.80, or about $20 per 4 pairs traded. Then, add to this...

    Pairs Trading Commission Help

You will need to execute 16 transactions. Not taking into account slippage which could be anywhere from a 2 or 3 cents to as much as 25 cents or more, per pair executed. You are probably looking at about $20.00 per 100 shares. If you do larger size, you can significantly reduce these costs...

    Commissions!! Commissions!! Commissions!!

Yes I did get the TE trade today, and NO I don't have bloomberg. I just find that with all of the trades I am managing, along with the different strategies I am running, I don't have time to watch the headlines. I subscribe to briefing and realmoneypro, and both of these services seem to give...

    Commissions!! Commissions!! Commissions!!

I have been reading your posts for months now wondering who is this cat that "knows it all" and continuously bangs the same old tired drum? Who is this guy that seems to contribute nothing of substance to this message board? I finally figured you out...you're a retail piker! What's the...

    Dividend Refund for Canadian Traders

Simply stated, I don't think you are entitled to a refund. You want to do business with american companies then you should pay taxes on the return you made from the american company to the USA. If you don't like it invest in toronto or something like that.

What is the best deal out there??

I don't know of anyone trading 2 million shares per month and getting a rate of .0040 or better, in fact .0065 is probably about the best deal you are going to get. Be wary of those traders who talk a good game but can't bring it when it counts. And to all those traders out there, here is the...

    ACF AmeriCredit Corp?????

I think a better strategy for trading this one is too place your stop at the low of $2.95. I don't see any reason to hold the trade if it breaks through this point. History has shown that when it breaks through the point, (i.e. $6, $5, $4, that the stock tends to head south very quickly. If...

    Short Selling and Uptick Rule

You must mark the trade as short. If i want to short a stock i will put a limit order below the current market 10 or 15 cents. The specialist will fill you at the first possible price, as long as there is an uptick within your limit order range.

    BT ratings

I have been trading with bright for a little over a year now. I feel that most of the comments that have been posted are unfair and inaccurate. Everyone, seems to be complaining about systems, software, executions, charges, etc. I feel compelled to touch base on all of these. First, there...

    Umm, a journal

If you are able to consistently make profitable trades of 20 or 30 cents per day, on several stocks, why not just do that on 1000 shares, make 5 trades and make $1000 TO $1500 per day? That's a good living, and you don't have to take that huge risk of naked overnight positions?

    Trading Journal - July

I consider the market deeply oversold, the vix certainly indicates this. However...I don't see any capitulation yet. When Jim Cramer is on CNBC telling me to sell, then i will know we hit a bottom. Until then, I will remain a Bear.
