    Switching from ER2 to ES

I should have also taken advantage of the greater liquidity and shorted more at 60. it popped up after the initial break of 60, and I was scaling in. After it started falling I stopped shorting at 12 ES. should have hammered away.

    Switching from ER2 to ES

9/10/07 +1831 on 12 ES. Shorted the break from 60. Avg entry 59.94, avg exit 56.79. Always tempting to stay in, as the ES looks weak. But will probably call it a day. Discipline discipline. Update: and of course... after I cover the f*cker drops 5 handles... *!@$#& safe to say I didn't let...

    Brent's Journey to success Journal

Which broker are you using? Tradestation will run all of these stats for you in their Trademanager Analysis. Platform is free w/ 10 roundtrips a month, which you've already hit. ES data cost extra due to CME, but I think YM is free.

Thanks buddy. Ironically, due to a number of factors like traveling, I'm doing most of my trading off a 14" thinkpad...

    Tradestation with other international markets

Anyone use Tradestation with other international markets besides the US and Germany? if so, does TS provide data feed for other countries such as the markets IB is in like Japan, Korea, UK, etc? if TS doesn't provide data, do you use a 3rd party data vendor to work with TS? I've heard the DAX...

    trading earnings with a bloomberg

easy... they probably did a search/find for "guidance". 1. type, copy past the word "guidance" from any notepad or document when the release comes out 2. Ctrl+f (or whatever it is in Bloomberg) to bring up find dialog 3. Ctrl+v to paste the word guidance, press enter bingo, you...

Buy and hold: return 65.9% per year

One flaw in the logic is that you're really investing $200k instead of the stated $100k. You're holding $100k in reserve to meet margin calls, so that should be counted as the capital invested. Why? Because futures brokers don't give you 3 days to put up money like stock brokers do. IB, TS, or...

you can all laught at me- I BLEW UP

Yes, yes, and yes. Times like these make you appreciate what's important. My wife has been through quite a bit over the years. Nowadays when I do something really stupid, I try cushion it so she doesn't have to worry with me. It may not be the most healthy thing to suffer in silence, but I...

you can all laught at me- I BLEW UP

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles NY_HOOD. I have, likewise, blown up my share of accounts. The market is a vicious game. One thing I've learned to hate is to hold anything overnight. I found that I would obsess all night and weekend over anything that I held. The times that I did hold over...

Where's that picture from? What firm? What website? I like the LCD TV displays on top. It looks like California or the west coast since it's dark outside.

    Switching from ER2 to ES

I usually try to catch the momentum in a strong intra-day trend. I don't do well in slow rangebound days.

    Switching from ER2 to ES

9/7/07 Day 4 Net +1841 on 23 ES traded. Shorted at 60.5, rode it up to 65, rode it back down to 58.5. Need to stay disciplined and cut losses sooner. Hard to short at S2. Anyways, calling it a day and week.

    Switching from ER2 to ES

9/6/07 Day 3 Net +1525 on 15 contracts. I'm loving the liquidity ES provides. Basically shorted from 78.5 to 76.5 averaging in and out. One thing I've noticed with ES is that since the multiplier is smaller at 50 vs 100 for ER2, I take on bigger position, but scale in and scale out at...

    Switching from ER2 to ES

9/5/07 Day 2, net +2800 after commission on 15 ES. basically rode the drop from 80 to 75 and called it a day. volatility helps when trading ES since it moves it faster. efficiency is also getting better, yesterday I traded 48.

    Switching from ER2 to ES

I made the switch this week from trading ER2 to ES. 9/4 1st day trading ES full time. Today's net is around $1300, so I may call it a day early just to get the win under the belt. I made about 900 on the morning move up, tried to short it around 84, lost the 900, then made it back and...

Open E Cry what a disappointment!

I had similar bad experience last week when Tradestation's trade servers went down. I will continue using TS, but have funded my IB account to use as a backup in case something happens again. That way, I can at least hedge any open positions at TS with the opposite position at IB.
