    trading psychology experiment

How to avoid false signals using MACD?

MACD is a lagging indicator so it works well with trendy markets, but horrible with range markets. But how do you predict when a market will be trendy and when it will be in a range? Therefore, just don't use MACD

The fear of trading edge becoming inefficient?

i dont think tape reading is an edge that can ever be lost, it's still effective today after it began over 80 years ago. also, you have to remember, when a system is configured to counter an edge, that system will open up other ways to exploit the market. finally, when a system is...

Prop firms in SF Bay Area?

I know there are tons of prop firms in chicago and NYC and I could probably open a remote trading account with them, but are any legitimate prop firms in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Why are prop firms seen in a bad light?

Aren't they just a better retail broker? More leverage, lower commissions, better software, etc. Even if you make a personal contribution, you can always quit and get whatever you have left back. Am I right?

    Psychology at 52 week highs/lows

I know a stock move depends on a lot of things, but holding everything else constant, would you rather buy at a 52 week low or 52 week high (for short term moves) / would you rather short at a 52 week low or 52 week high (again, for short term moves)?

    Psychology at 52 week highs/lows

i agree with you that the average investor will probably average down on the lows and hold at the tops, but who really holds the majority of the money to move stocks? i would say experienced institutional investors/traders hold the majority of the money and would likely take the other side...

    Psychology at 52 week highs/lows

just curious... trying to create a daytrading strategy from these answers. There are instances, where a stock will just shatter their 52 week/low intraday, and there will be those that will completely reverse. I was thinking of buying/shorting at these extremes and have stop losses if the...

    prop trading firms

i live in california and they're located in NY. They accommodated me by letting me do the interviews over the phone, so that's pretty cool. I already interviewed with Gman, the head trader, now I'm waiting on an interview with Mike, who's one of the partners that started smb.

What is your personal favourite indicator for daytrading

the intrday hi/lo ticker for me. you wanna see stocks that keep pushing new intraday highs or lows. Plus, if they're setting a new 52 week high/low, that's even better.

    prop trading firms

    prop trading firms

if u go to smbcap.com, under FAQs, a question is asked, "do i need my own capital?", it says no. so WTF???

    prop trading firms

i have an interview with smbcapital which is a prop trading firm. they say that we can trade with the firm's capital. so exactly how do they make money if i lose on the capital? they talk about trade commissions so if i lose money with their capital, will i get a bill at the end of the...
