    Reverse Iron Condors

That is funny if you are being facetious. If you are serious, then you have a long way to go.

    Reverse Iron Condors

No offense but I have not seen anything in your posts to make me believe you are an experienced, professional, options trader. Your comment “All I care about is making money with them on a regular basis” sounds exactly like someone looking at the issue from the wrong angle. You seem...

    Reverse Iron Condors

Doesn’t know what to call his IC, makes 100% a year with 90% probability, and says Atticus doesn’t know what he is talking about. Three strikes?

Brokers Face Higher SIPC Fees if Congress Expands SIPC Coverage

I have no problem paying a small SIPC fee once a year to get them to cover everything and raise the limits.

Is cash no longer fully insured in an IB account ?

Maybe I am being overly cautious, but after talking directly with SIPC and seeing what they have done in the Stanford and Madoff cases it is apparent to me that they are just another insurance company that will avoid paying if there is anyway they can get away with it. FDIC coverage is not that...

    Reverse Iron Condors

Then learn how to trade, a pursuit at which most fail, then spend a couple years learning everything you can about options. You are doing yourself a huge disservice by focusing on one or two specific strategies, then trying to learn how to trade them. As I stated ICs can be formed in almost...

Is cash no longer fully insured in an IB account ?

Would it be possible for IB to set up a relationship with a bank so they could give you a choice of having your excess cash kept in an FDIC insured account rather than an SIPC account? TDA/thinkorswim does that, and it is a better choice for people who are solely futures traders.

    Reverse Iron Condors

Iron condors have been discussed to death hear and many other places. You can go long (but it for a debit) or go short (sell it for a credit). You can choose strikes far away and sell it so new traders think they have found a magic “income” stream, you can choose near strikes for traders...

    Rumored Apple ipad3 info.

Marketwatch story says that preorders for the ipad are sold out and sales are “off the charts.” But then it says they are just delayed 3 days if you order one on the site now, so I am not really sure that counts as sold out, but I don't think I would go shorting the stock...

    Rumored Apple ipad3 info.

First time I have ordered a product where the UPS tracking shows it coming directly from China. My ipad is in Chengdu, China right now.

Got through on the website, just threw away 640 bucks on my spoiled kids.:)

Can’t even pre-order right now, the Apple site is being overloaded.

    Rumored Apple ipad3 info.

Which one are you getting? We will be using it 90%+ at home so it doesn’t seem worth it to pay an extra $130 plus the monthly fee to get the cell connection. I was thinking of getting the 32gb wifi for $599.

So does that mean I am the only one who is going to buy one? I’m actually getting it for the kids, but I figure I will get some use out of it.

DDE hangs Excel with Windows 7

I have 64 bit win 7 with the same excel you have and thinkorswim’s DDE and have no problems. Ogarbitrage is talking about IB’s trading program not thinorswim’s. Like I said I have had an occasional update to windows or excel mess up the DDE, and this was fixed by going back with a system...

DDE hangs Excel with Windows 7

The Chrome browser definitely keeps DDE from initiating, you have to open the browser after turning the DDE on, but if you are saying that is not your issue it could be your install of win 7 because it works fine for me. I have had an occasional issue over the years with an update to either...

    tax for futures traders

Clearly emg is too stupid to understand anything, but for anyone else reading you need to understand that being a CPA is like being a medical doctor. Just because you are a family doctor doesn’t mean you can perform brain surgery. Many here have talked to a lot of CPAs and most all of them...

    tax for futures traders

I usually don’t bother with putting people on ignore, but you are right up there. I honestly don’t have any idea why you post on this site, you need to get a life. Every actual trader here knows that most CPAs don’t know anything about taxes for traders because there are so few of us...

    tax for futures traders

The vast majority of accountants, including CPAs, know very little about taxes for traders. If your taxes are simple and straightforward then you can do them yourself, but you have to do the research which is rather time consuming. If you trade enough, as in the IRS can’t deny you are...

The first step [for the pros only]

I wouldn’t say “most” option traders do any one thing, but in my experience they like to have a feel for the underlying and the accompanying option market. ES options have little in common with wheat options, and SPY trades differently than AAPL. Guys tend to focus on an area, like...
