I sold half of puts with a gain before earnings. Will get out of the rest tomorrow, with some losses. Could well be that I get out with a profit on the whole position, we'll see. Apart, I was doing some trading afterours in adbe stock. Although I was short I made some profits!!

Sorry , no calls, I have puts, of course.

My 35 calls are 50% in the plus at the moment and adbe numbers are coming out afterhours. Shall I take 50% gain or shall I keep to through numbers? I didn't expect to make money even before numbers are coming out. In case numbers are OK, probably all gains will be gone.

Now I take more profits @68.88, covered half of the remaining position with a nice profit and keep the the rest so far. Now this position will never go into the red zone again for me, as I NOw!!!! use a stop. It's when you sell that counts!! (Cassidy):p

Now take a look at UTSI. This is what I mean by ticking time bomb. If you now hang in there on the long side with an overnight position due to 52 week high, you are getting hammered like a piece of meat. :cool:

wow, good stuff, nitro. Maybe one more question. Do you place price stops for pair trading or do you take time as a stop? Or don't you use stops at all with your pair trades?

Now covered the rest @43.87 with a gain of about 5%. This will be the last trade I will post on ET for some time. Good luck to everybody. :p :p

Just covered half of position @44.20 with a gain of 3.75 %. I try to ride a little further on the wave with the rest. IMHO you have to get a feeling for the waves of a specific stock. Just a SL and TA doesn't get you anywhere.

First, thanks for the answer, nitro. Maybe you can explain the "mathematics" of _SHORT_TERM pair trading a little more detailed. I'm not sure if I'm with you.

By the way, is there a really good book out there regarding pair trades? Haven't found one yet. Still looking for. IMHO pair trading is even more interesting than in the past, because one can use SSF, index stocks and mix it with stocks and options.

Funny that you mention PG. I was also doing some stuff with it a couple of days ago. My trade: A pair trade. Long JNJ/Short PG, Ration: 1:1.

Worked on the "Parkett" in Frankfurt. Golden times there seem to be over, because electronic trading is taking its place via "Xetra".

I like the action that is going on right now in the NQ. High volatility in combination with big moves in both directions. Lots of opportunities have been there for today. Hope we keep on going like today.

NQ is filling the opening gap, but CAT doesn't move up a penny. IMHO there is more selling pressure behind.

I take some profits by covering @ 69.76 the position I shorted @ 71.70. Cat allover with meaty profits. This is how I did it although being totally wrong for some time. IMHO you can always take your losses and most of you will bleed to death, oh yes, slowly.
