    Why do newbies lose?

I sent you a PM as an aside. I really have a hard time keeping track of my trades...Entry, exit, options, captured dividends. Some stand out, but I am not going to go back into the bowels of my trades at Schwab or Fidelity (Morgan Stanley even longer) or even here, and see what I have done. I...

    Why do newbies lose?

Yeah, I have no problem with about a 10% annualized gain (stock gain, option, dividend). If it's more, that is fine too. Picking up dimes and quarters with very little steamrollers. Holding quality companies...Some/many get called away. I owned both Walmart and Target...Did leaps way OTM on...

25 Worst single ticker stock losses in history

Use to work for a subcontractor of Worldcom...I still have (use) my Worldcom wrist rest!! Lucent was one of my biggest losers...Defined benefits!!! I can't remember fully, but I believe over the years I made money on; Dupont, Sprint, Uber, Kraft, and I bought Wells Fargo after they took over...

    Why do newbies lose?

I've had many losers...I have documented here on these forums. I am wondering what you call the below...Intuition, business insight, patience from years of experience, luck, business acuity?? The Boeing 737 MAX passenger airliner was grounded worldwide between March 2019 and December 2020 –...

    Why do newbies lose?

A lot of investors can be fooled by dividends (past and future)... Thinking of the downturns like GM (2008) and GE (2009)...

    Why do newbies lose?

Investor here...Not a day trader. Read and understand a balance sheet. A two day seminar (charge $200. +) would be real good. Also talk about defined benefits/benefits (stock options), and how the number of employees effect a balance/profit and loss statement. I know a semester of college...

    Accounting services

One last thought... The two biggest issues for most houses (besides the structural pest report...Remember it is usually separated between sections 1 & 2), is the roof and the heater/air conditioner. Look at both of those closely...Big costs to repair/replace.

Quick option (covered call)...Genmab (GMAB). It's a Danish biotech company...Just 100 shares. Sell to open Feb 24 $45. I got $1.16 ($116.00) for the option. Generate income while I wait for more trials to be complete...

Way over my head...A tax attorney (who set it up) can tell you in one minute. Certain states (California being one), may withhold a certain amount (to make sure they get their part if owed). You would get the state stuff back at tax time. Hopefully the mother's attorney did the correct tax...

So I don't use stops and I think the math supports this.

Just wondering if this ever happens much?? ITM then OTM or vise versa... Caveats at Expiration While the majority of options never reach their expiration dates due to traders offsetting or closing their positions before that time, some options do live on until their actual expiration...

    Simplifying Life and Better Trading

I don't watch the news at night...It gets me tense and there is probably nothing I can do about it anyways. I will check the futures market, but it's just a glance...I don't trade futures, so no biggie. I have 27 friends on Facebook...That's it. Good friends and family...No LinkedIn, Tiktok...

    Should i put 300k into an S&P 500 ETF?

I would do more government bonds and less SPY at this time. People do NOT have money to spend...They are maxed out. When we have a correction in the market, then you would want to add to the market (SPY)...

    Should i put 300k into an S&P 500 ETF?

Check your gas prices?? What is real inflation running at... Gasoline, diesel, and natural gas prices will be passed along to the consumer/businesses. They in turn will pass higher prices to others...If they can. Just my belief that 2% inflation is a pipe dream... I wrote the above before I...

    Should i put 300k into an S&P 500 ETF?

I haven't read the full thread...This is my thoughts. Do you work at a job? Do you have a 401K or a pension?? Are you funding it to the max? Those are more important questions that the investment question. If you don't have a pension, then get a IRA started. Go with a company like Fidelity...

I've shared this before...I've had 3 CPAs over the years. The second one, I told him I was interviewing him. He said "I am interviewing you"!! Reading between the lines, he wanted to know if I would pay him. Do I have a history of paying my CPAs (on time). Do I try/press for strange...

Cabin's journal of buys, sells, and covered calls...

On Target today...They paid their dividend today, (I just happened to see it in the history at Fidelity). I have lost about five thousand something on this company. Great plans, but shrinkage (theft) and the woke issues have hurt them. I like the idea of putting Starbucks in their stores. It...

Well did 3 trades in the last couple of days. First did an option on our Boston Scientific (BSX)...300 shares. Did a covered call for the June 24 $70...Got .65 for each=$195. The other day I/we bought (BMY) BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB...100 shares at $61.41. Then did a covered call for the $62.50...

Cabin's journal of buys, sells, and covered calls...

I'm not going to start a new thread...Just want to pose a question. Please no Google/AI answers. How can you tell if a company could/would be a buyout candidate? Just off the top of my head things like; They are gaining, holding market share. They have refinanced much of their debt at a low...
