So I was at Fidelity doing a simple "sell to open"...

And instead of hitting auto route I thought let me try BATS...See what happens. I've heard it talked about here on the forums. Got this pop up. This was just a one lot on BG. I am not a real active trader (about 25 covered calls a year). I went with the auto route, not knowing what I was...

my employers 401k does not allow long calls / puts what choices i have?

Covered calls "can be" the safest of all options. You must own the stock and have it at the broker. You still collect the dividend and hope the stock goes up slightly, but does not get called away...Do another covered call. The problem arises when you have a stock like GM (that I had in...

my employers 401k does not allow long calls / puts what choices i have?

I have Roth IRAs at Fidelity and Schwab. I can only do covered calls or puts to buy back stocks, I believe. Federal law I think...I may be wrong, but I feel that is the case.

Buying Panasonic...Is it a safer way to play Tesla??

I bought a couple hundred shares of PCRFY the other day. Not all their money is on Tesla...They make their batteries for their cars. They are into a ton of other things as you know. They are planning to build a battery plant in China. Yeah, I know Tesla may be in talks with another China...

Thick headed...Explain it to me one more time

I just did a cover call on THC...Sale to open. It was over $3.00. I had to trade in 10 cent increments...Fidelity would not allow 5 cent changes. I lowered the price and it got filled in 1 cent increments...Why?? Why can someone else (big boys) do those trades, but I can't? My broker...

I know this should be more on the stock forum...But

I have noticed over the years, that the market drops the next business day after the third Friday of the month (option day) in January. It is like all those options need to cleared (settled) to be cleaned out for a few days. About 5 days later or so, the market will bounce back (if that is the...

How heavy do you get into China ETFs or things like BABA??

I like the China ETFs that I can option (covered calls)...Yeah, boring and not profitable this year. Just wondering what percent of a your portfolio is in China?? One "expert" the other day said 40% should be there. I have heard 5-10% or 10-20% in Asia/China many times. So what is a good...

Obligation of selling (writing) a call option

You can if you own the stock (covered calls). There also must be someone who will buy the call back...At least 1 cent and you pay the commission (unless you are a Schwab). Schwab has something that allows you to close your position commission free (just a few cents per lot). If there is no...

Covered call trader here...Doing a lot of leaps

Yeah, covered calls are the most boring out there. Think of buying QQQ at $149.? and optioning the Jan 2020 for $150. I would get over a 10% return if it got called away. It's like hedging investments for the long haul if we fell into a recession... I would still own my QQQ if it expired...
