    This "edge" stuff

An "edge" is synonymous with the word "advantage". As in an advantage over other participants. To be effective, the 'edge' should be substantial enough and robust enough to provide you with a positive expectancy in your performance outcome. In other words, it should allow you to win over time...

    Favor for a Friend Dubai...

I have a close friend who wants to work in Dubai, or elsewhere in the safe part of the Middle East. She is a Japanese Citizen and is here in the US on an H-1B Visa. She's worked in a Hedge Fund doing Investor Relations/Customer Service. She speaks fluent French, Japanese and English. I'm trying...

Where can I hire someone with retail financial sales experience?

Is there a good place to go to find former stockbrokers or similar looking to do hedge fund sales to high-net worths? Any help appreciated. I know about Monster.

Day Trading Firms vs. Prop Trading Firms

Don probably charges more per share because he is pricing in the X factor option. This is the free option given to traders who use his capital that they may blow-up and go far beyond their capital deposit. This option rarely expires 'in the money' but when it does, watch out!! This option is...

Day Trading Firms vs. Prop Trading Firms

It's unbelieveable what a sense of entitlement you rookie traders feel. You really need to grow up and understand the real world.

Something explosive is going to happen in Silver and EUR soon..

I sold in the melee today in the high $13s on stops. I'm re-entering a little bit now in the overnights low $12s but will generally wait for some stability to load the boat again. I'll probably end up buying higher than these levels because this market is not going to allow re-entry smoothly and...

I expect a big rally in Silver tomorrow as the new margin requirements further squeeze the shorts.

Something explosive is going to happen in Silver and EUR soon..

Watch for a big reversal day to exit. Correction will be big when it comes, however, upside is likely still very significant from here, we're in the parabolic phase. That +10% day is probably soon upon us. Silver is 30%+ in the last one month since I made the posting. Sadly, EUR is just starting...

    How to compensate referrals?

I think hedgefunds summed it up fairly well. Except, I don't agree that money has flowed out of hedge funds into private equity funds. Both of those asset classes have experienced huge inflows this past year at the expense of mutual funds. As 2cents said, good money managers have choices too...

Something explosive is going to happen in Silver and EUR soon..

No question that the new ETF is adding some buying. However, nobody is pulling the plug. Of course there is going to be some volatility, however, this market is not being pushed up simply due to the new ETF. There is a larger trend at play here.

Althucher guesses: trend funds to disappear within the next 10 years...

Honestly, he speaks in such a complex manner, it is very difficult to really understand him. However, as best as I can tell, he admits that trends exist in other non-equity markets: Dave: What about the other markets? Do the same studies hold true? Victor: No. I hasten to add that such...

Althucher guesses: trend funds to disappear within the next 10 years...

That's a good point bubbrubb. I don't really know what you mean by 'rebalancing gains' and I don't know if your "half" number is accurate, however, you're point is a good one I think.

Althucher guesses: trend funds to disappear within the next 10 years...

Soros and Druckenmiller are two of the greatest traders in the world, both major trendfollowers. I don't think either is the product of survivorship bias. One of the problems is that nobody really has a good definition of 'trend-following' as a strategy. It is more of a concept. Also, the term...
