How to Build an Automated Trading System

Hi Wayne, I'm very much enjoying your thread. Thanks for sharing your progress. You have inspired me to dust off my auto SCT model again. I am clearly in a different league than you and I am probably taking an entirely different approach, but hopefully, I will get to the same finish line...

Spyder, Could you please confirm that I'm using the correct logic for volume bar colors? Thanks.

Software Used to Trade Jack Hershey Methods

While I'm all for hiking up a skirt :p ... I think the primary point is being missed here. We saw the debut of Peak Trader Pro at the Expo and while they are on the right track, I'm afraid too many people are thinking that a software package is going to teach them the Jack Hershey Method...

    Iterative Refinement

Spyder, I want to thank you again for the time you spent with us at the Traders Expo. You showed us how far we have come, but also how far we must still travel. There is not too much to add to Avi8's excellent post. The training wheels are off boys and girls... it's all about continuation...

    Iterative Refinement

This has been my experience as well. For example when you are in a channel and it has already experienced one VE (or more), a flaw and is well above/below the 20SMA and PRV says "this could be the FTT", then you KNOW that a FTT is just around the corner. If you get in/reverse a little early...

I haven't posted a chart in a while... The first three bars were a real clue to a trending day. No "W" or "M" here!

Software Used to Trade Jack Hershey Methods

Hey Clym! It looks like you've got plenty of tapes and channels on your charts! Is it all automated or does it require some user input? Do you add additional chart series (dynamically), or do you have a preset number of channels that your model will draw? Your one screen shot shows quite a...

    Iterative Refinement

Hey Tums! I believe we're thinking along the same lines. Some other relationships I look at is how much price is above/below the 20SMA before an FTT, % retracement of a bar after an FTT, smallest distance from the LTL and the FTT bar, and the steepness of slopes of tapes and forest channels...

Software Used to Trade Jack Hershey Methods

I’m posting my reply here since this is the appropriate thread for JHM software discussion. Thanks for the comments. The model is Excel 2003 with VBA (Visual Basic for Applications). The data feeds are DDE links from OEC (Open Ecry) and TOS (thinkorswim). Everything updates in real-time...

    Iterative Refinement

I have attached a zipped file of several snapshots of the last big down move of the day. I have superimposed the Bid Wall and Ask Wall on the 1-min ES chart so that one can see how the wall moves as well as breaks-down. I find that having the bid and ask walls directly on the price chart...

    Iterative Refinement

Below is a screen shot of a model that I have been developing (its a work in progress). It consists of three OHLC-volume charts with automatic lateral and pennant annotations and logic for flaws and continuation/change. Eash chart is a “moving window” of the last 10 bars. The other day I...

I feel like I went through a food processor today! :( Low volatility (compared to earlier this week) and choppy volume made for a tough day of sledding for me.

I too missed the big run up. I was having lunch:p. I wasn't expecting a move until after 1:00. Oh well, I'll wait for the next train!

If I didn't know better, I'd say we had an FTT today.
