With this journal one thing I have always done from time to time is to go back and review some of my broad base sector calls....This is more of an opportunity for me to usually "pat myself of my back".... Back in early to mid June I was dumping anything related to Fertilizer/Coal/Oil...

WOW...MTL down roughly 40% looking interesting...but no position still...dam good short earlier though

OK how about this action...MTL... BTW...No market order drops a stock like that 4 points...The point was that a mis pricing event occurred and one can capitalize on it.... No position here

I will weigh in on this subject.....IMHO....I truly believe that speculators in the oil futures have everything to do with this price movement......lets just go through some quick examples.... Lets assume that the spot price is 140.00 currently and you are a short in the crude pits that...

My 20 largest Short position are CCRT, MCO, CORS, MHO, MTH, SPF, BLG, NDE, NFI, NEW, LEND, FED, FMT, AHM, BKUNA, IBCP, LAB, RATE, HKF, IVC (Mostly lenders of credit and homebuilders with some banks)...Pretty much the same thing everyone is shorting if they could get a fill ...HKF getting removed...

And here the chart is to the daily .....BTW....Still holding the Shorts, but I did reduce the SKF and TWM down a bit on the news.....TIP and TLT were closed out as well....Not sure why I choose those the other day, but IMHO not the speculative way to play inflation.....Much easier just owning...

How could you not want to trade on a day like today..... WOW.....FRE and FNM.... well I missed the boat on that one today, but I was able to put on a few positions to the long side in the middle of the panic..... I went with the Casinos and a Bank today.... ......Overweighted more on MGM...

$COSTAverageMAN is in around 50% Currencies (Not the Dollar)...The position are CYB, FXF, FXY, FXE, BZF and 20% commodities....UNG, UGA, UHN, USO, DBA, DBB, GSG, DBC...... The big question is if the dollar has priced in this Rate Rise or Not.....I closed 40% of my double short ETF's...

Well the big countdown begins....In 14 hours we will find out if the ECB sinks the dollar and the market with one very stupid rate increase.....Don't they know inflation data is a lagging indicator and that a stronger currency adds to export inflation....This French-y better not be getting any...
