Trading for a Living - the journey to self discovery

...and the stories boiled down to "choices" that they made. Tiger Woods? again, it boiled down to choice... - he chose to keep his cell messages - he chose the path to go for buffet instead of his happy meal Whenever I hear the word "karma" used...it is usually related to someone who...

Cloudy...not sure if you were wanting to respond to me. However, if you re-read the thread from when pattern raised this issue, you will understand my comments. i didn't bring up karma or do i understand or believe in karma when it comes to the way he correlates it to wins and losses in...

Geez thanks...I know, if everyone was as clear as me, the world wouldn't be filled with retards! Well, it DOES matter. Again, I ask for clarity...would you take a position to go long on Gold and short ES since you know it will happen in 24 months. And if you do, isn't there any karmic...

Trading for a Living - the journey to self discovery

Everything is relative depending on your point of view. For sure, institutions these days carry a lot of weight. I'm not sure if the purpose of "retail traders" is to move or change the market's behavior in order to make money. For retail traders like, IMHO, is to be on the "right" side of a...

Trading for a Living - the journey to self discovery

Clarity requires no repetition. You are of the opinion that if one made money on a given trade (profit), then one must be "destroying" someone's dreams...and because of "karma", one will never amass wealth in the end...? Unless I've misunderstood you, this is essentially what you are trying...

Trading for a Living - the journey to self discovery

Again, I'm not sure what it is you are exactly trying to share.... If garnering profits from trading is bad...why are you in these forums? Have you suffered from losses that it has made you look at things this way? On Barnum...are we talking about Phinaes Barnum? He wasn't a trader; he...

How do you know she gave the temporary loans and she hath horns and spiked tails?;) Is this assumption of yours coming from your own religious background? Granted this thread isn't about religion (or the lack of); I've got an open mind about "religion" and its psychological impact (negative or...

Thanks for the clarification... Did you mean a "trader's" profit? A shareholder is an "owner" of a company (loosely defined). Shareholder "profits" from either a dividend paid out or increase in their holding's value. So, I'm not sure I follow... However... What would be a "zero sum"...

Trading for a Living - the journey to self discovery

:D pattern39...can you clarify exactly what you are meaning to say? "all those who play..." seems a generalization that ALL participants in buying/selling investments (stocks, options, et al) are bound to lose their money... Not sure if that logic holds...for a trader who "lost" on a...

Trading for a Living - the journey to self discovery

Thank you for your kind words Trader 198! You may have missed the words after "trading for a living"...wherein I stated "the journey of self discovery". So, take what you can use and give what I can (or others) use. I'm happy that you are able to see to buy/sell automatically and is a...

Trading for a Living - the journey to self discovery

I was asked via PM why I had a short stance on NFLX given the fact that it has slaughtered almost everyone who has doubted its story and given the fact that it will be reporting earnings on Jul 18th. From my own systems' standpoint; there wasn't a sell/short signal. So, in essence, I could...

Seems like we timed our trade right on this one. However, we broker rule on position sizing. We will for sure liquidate half tomorrow. So far, the market have bounced back...as we head towards earnings. After July the lull starts?

Missed the boat on GTLS...as it went up more than 5% during entry day; sold EOD. Decision was totally rule based. Sometimes...you miss the bus. But there will ALWAYS be another bus! Psychologically...we sold on the 24th as we didn't want to hold over the weekend given the choppy...

There is certainly something to be said about trading higher priced stocks! Took a chunk of capital; went up $9 in a day but in relative terms...still only 1.8%+ :D Oh well...it is better than nothing. Held 2 days.
