I had the same experiences on the grain floor myself. As far as the heart attack story goes, I"ve heard it as well but I don't think it's from the grain floor. Probably some financial floor.

I guess I wasn't as surprised by today's move as others were. So many short positions around, and yesterday's move began to shake them out. Also, the strength of yesterday's reversal was pretty amazing. Lets see if we can't sucker some mutual fund buying into tomorrow to really drive this.

I don't believe that the markets need any more regulation than there already is. Those sell limits/stops were knowingly put in place by traders. There was no fraud,collusion, or anything else that forced traders to enter those orders. They knowingly let those orders sit in the afterhours...

Nope. I think you take a receipt for live cattle stored somewhere. What you do after that with them is up to you.

The Freedom to Farm Act changed most of the governmental subsidies. The gov. now enocurages the production of some grains over other grains throught their loan programs. But I believe that farmers can grow whatever they want now.

Sounds like a good idea. If you go the more traditional route of L.P., I believe you can create an LLC to be the general partner. Limit's your risk.

Even before that, enough money to breakeven for a while. If your charging 1-2%, on 5 mil that's 50-100 G's a year, gross. Take out commissions, money for tech., news/data fees. Hopefully, you know a few people with some serious cash. But trade well, and the money will come.

I'd be careful saying that grains reach highs and lows and then you can buy/sell them for easy money. The next year or two especially. This years grain markets could be the breakout years. Some of the factors of grain prices are at multi year lows, ie ending stocks. Just a warning that the game...

I've heard the grain markets are going to have a good year or two. May want to look into that. There was a thread awhile back on the grain markets.
