I'm getting killed today in the YM.

Interesting, I'll keep that in mind. Sure I'm serious. I've been trading reversals at support and resistance: price action. But how do you know when it's going to go far beyond the normal range and not reverse at any of the normal spots? That's the hard part.

I'm getting killed today in the YM.

Yes, that I do. Good advice. Thanks, makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one.

I'm getting killed today in the YM.

No, I tried stock options many years ago. But no matter how much I read up on them I could never get a feel for how the price moved. It would always seem like I'd get a big move in the stock price like I was hoping for but the options would hardly budge. Something to do with volatility...

I'm getting killed today in the YM.

Well, obviously that didn't work. I'm out for the day. Now that's it over I can see I should have been watching out for the 3:15 reversal. Actually, I'm not new. I've been trading futures since 2006, on and off, trying to learn. I took advantage of a lull in work to try it...

I'm getting killed today in the YM.

OK, just shorted again at 10,659, at 3:14. The rationale for the trade was that the price was in a down trend and it was coming up to hit it's trend line. Stop at 10666.

I'm getting killed today in the YM.

Hi Everyone, I thought I finally had this trading thing. I've been breaking even for a few weeks now. Today I got killed in the YM as I kept shorting on the way up. I did everything right by my "system", I shorted at various resistance points but it just blew through each one and...

Please help with my PC problem

I get that, the recovery programs I mentioned usually can run from a bootable CD, but like I said, I don't think they are worth much and could end up deleting your data if you don't know what you are doing Unfortunately, judging from your questions, I don't think you have the level of...

Please help with my PC problem

Bad news, it looks like your registry is corrupt. At this point I would re-install windows. I usually recommend putting windows on a brand new drive so you don't run any risk of deleting your existing data. There might be a program out there that can fix this for you, but I don't know which...

Please help with my PC problem

We need more detail on the message. Particularly if it mentions a file. Don't bother copying down the big sets of numbers. Did you try starting in safe mode?

I don't think you were replying to me but your post is good advice and duly noted.

    Why 99,9% fail

Thanks for your thoughts. I will look into that author you mentioned. I'm not sure what you are getting at when you say you have a name for each bar. I assume that's a way for you to classify them. My money management techniques have grown out a desire to be extremely conservative about not...

    Why 99,9% fail

Hey everyone, it seems that this thread is 4 months old and was resurrected by someone who didn't want to create his own thread for some reason... I didn't notice it at first either...

    Why 99,9% fail

So what books do you recommend? I've been struggling and it's hard to know what to do. The thing that works best for me is reversals at support, resistance and trendlines. All of the progress that I've made has come from honing my mental filters about which trades to take. Oh wait, here...

    Career advice for salaried worker

I've been where you are: you're burned out. That will get better if you can find a way to take a vacation. When you say the extra money doesn't mean anything to you, you are probably looking at a (say) 3% raise to your gross salary. Instead look at it as a much larger percentage raise...

How to research and verify trading ideas

When I saw you post that you were working on it I was sure you would win. :) You're right, the browser caches just keep the most recently fetched version of each page. I'm pretty sure they all work that way. Thanks for that, the situation looks very intriguing.

How to research and verify trading ideas

Glad I could help, I'd like to try that level 2 strategy myself sometime. I usually browse with Safari on my Mac. I have sisboom on ignore, and I wanted to see what everyone was talking about so I switched to Firefox to view the thread without being logged in. I then went back to Safari...

How to research and verify trading ideas

Moderators, please restore Talon Trading's post, I saw it earlier and wanted to read it again. Also I don't get why his post was deleted and other incredibly obnoxious posts were kept. TT: I haven't participated in this thread since I don't have much to contribute, but I've been...

Test to assess your risk intelligence

I think that the way that they score the test is simplistic and flawed. But the idea is what intrigued me. That being that some people will be better at self-assessing the accuracy of their own beliefs than others. I think the idea is that people who tend to be certain that they are...
