I assume everyone has heard about this one by now...

Not really. Once you expose one of your addresses to someone and they can put your name to it then you're doxxed. Once you're doxxed they can trace your transactions. e.g. a BTC exchange. BTC is anonymous in the sense that there's no inherent ID to you built into the blockchain. So if you...

I doubt he faked his death. The BTC addresses for his cold storage are either known outright or can be traced. Any attempt to spend even a little of those coins will be discovered. He would then be outed as not dead. If he can't spend them without discovery then what's the point?

I assume everyone has heard about this one by now...

The usual advice to average hodlers is to *not* store their BTC in online wallets including crypto-broker accounts. Store BTC in your own cold-storage wallet and keep a printed backup somewhere secure offsite. The deceased CEO had the right idea using a cold storage wallet but he lacked a...

    Swing trading using options

It's oversimplified. 1. Theta - When buying options (I'm assuming you're not trading spreads) you not only need to be right in direction but also right in time. e.g. stock is at 90 and you buy the 4 week out 100 call. Stock goes to 99, option expires OTM/worthless, you lose your net debit...

Data feed for intraday market scanner every 60 seconds

Not all at once but if you use threads you can download say 10 pages at a time. BTW web scraping is way easier in Python.

Can you afford to help your kid start a business?

Why would a kid these days bother asking mom and dad for money? If your idea looks like it has legs just do a go-fund-me campaign.

Florida Man Who Raised $100 Million To Short The VIX Likely Returning To Old Job At Target

This failed scheme is similar to the Swissy Peg that imploded back in 2015. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole but I knew some guys who thought they had a license to print money. Until the the day the Swiss dropped the Euro peg.

what would be a good starter set of equity ETFs?

I've experimented with ETF-based sector rotation strategies in the past. e.g. Here's a list of ETFs for a "global rotation" based on world regions: MDY - United States IEV - Europe EEM - Emerging Markets ILF - Latin America EPP - Pacific (without Japan) EDV - Treasuries (could also choose TLT...

IB TWS connection problems at work. Desperate...

OP, maybe you have a dream job except for the internet connection. If it's not a dream job then start looking for another one. Part of my reason for leaving my last job was just this issue. (Not being able to run IB TWS at work). The other reason was I had become underpaid over time. New job...

    Interactive brokers outage

I doubt it. BTW I was able to place a couple of SPX spread limit orders and get filled using other data. But the fact is I didn't need to know what the current bid/ask was anyway. I knew what my entry price was going to be, placed the order there and waited.
