    Weird Problem with TWS

Thats just it the audit trail shows nothing. I bombed the TWS, interesting that the only way I could get it to stop was by bombing the process. When it comes back up everything was fine. I was running quite a few dde links into Excel at the time. And Excel was putting some strain on the...

    Weird Problem with TWS

Today I entered an order to sell. I already owned the stock so not shorting. The TWS showed green. But my balance did not decrease. I pressed the cancel button and the screen showed magenta. I waited, checked the account management screen, for executed trades it was showing nothing...

Kinematics, Calculus, and other higher maths

Yeah I spent a lot of time on NN and on chaos theory, all worthless, much better to trade small and learn from the market.

    Lay, Skilling found guilty...

Exactly, the reason that Lay and Skilling are arrested and charged, is to keep the masses happy; that no-one is above the law. The morons crossed the line and in doing so, they threatened the whole system and so have to be made examples of. Think the Knights Templar.

    Trading UK stocks through IB?

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si1992/Uksi_19923286_en_1.htm Seems European Institutions engaging in business in the UK are also exempt. I suppose the Hedge funds trade CFD's with their prime broker or a bank. That is Bank buys stock and sell CFD to the fund. Stupid rarely, but I suppose HM...

    Trading UK stocks through IB?

Excuse my ignorance I did not realize the UK had market makers? I thought their market was electronic with strict Time price priority.

    Trading UK stocks through IB?

Why not use Single stock futures. Also if they are using CFD's who are they trading with, ultimately the hedger pays the stamp duty?

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

    InteractiveBrokers, Oh My!

Try ping "ing" 208.245.147.9. This is the IB server. everytime I have had a problem its been because of the response time of my Internet connection. Not IB.

    Unethical Conduct by IB

Now that to me is a problem. It may be your system though. If the send time and execution were 37min apart I would think that was very dodgy. It could be that your machine only transmitted the order 37min later. If so why? a) Were you running any other software? b) Could your...

    Unethical Conduct by IB

I have just read this entire thread. Issue for me comes down to two things. One the auto delete and red status etc Sure IB does not communicate it clearly, but a bad workman always blames his tools. What I find disturbing is that he gets a fill 37min later at a really really bad price...

    Extinct Currencies (and why?)

I have a book with bank notes from Greece during the second world war. The biggest note is (I think I remember) 100 000 000 000 drachma's. At the end of the war that note was replaced with 1 new drachma.

    Random OR Non-random Walk?

You gotta love this thread something can be random and still be tradeable. The efficient market hypothesis is flawed because: If its true then a share price will change only when some new news hits the market. Then the price will jump to the exactly "right" price. Does this happen in...

    IB's Trouble tickets

For the record I PM'D the IB guy who replied and the one TT was dealt with and the other is being handled. I am sure it was just some kind of a system problem. If the TT system keeps the costs down I am all for it.
