I only recently started watching the USD/market correlation. I was wondering how strongly the two were correlated prior to this year?

Most likely the Dow. I think the USD is the driving force in the relationship, not the other way around.

What's the difference between raising capital with common equity, as opposed to with preferred equity? Obviously in one case they're selling common shares, and in the other they sell preferred. But common shareholders will be diluted equally either way, right?
