vastly inferior performance in positions in options versus positions in shares.

Your results show you're day-trading so why trade options with a $20-30 spread and no volume when you can trade near-the-money options with a $1-3 spread and decent volume? Delta is lower so adjust position size accordingly. Example: 40.5C has $1 spread and .49 Delta so trade 2 calls as...

vastly inferior performance in positions in options versus positions in shares.

Your Quote: "the fact that the very same trades in shares are competitive or modestly profitable should give more than enough information about how well my strategies are following the trends i'm trying to profit from." .................................................... Even though I think...

vastly inferior performance in positions in options versus positions in shares.

First thing to do is correct your testing results so you know if anything is accurate :) 1-Why do you have a "Net" of "0" in the stock position but have a "Net" of "1" or more in options? If stock and option trades are taken at the same time then "Net" should be "0" for both if all trades are...

    Kramer does TA now?

Investing is about ROI. If just looking for a "positive return" put everything in CDs. Less time consuming & guaranteed profit. In Cramer's defense, he: 1-Had an 11 year track record of beating the market when running a hedge fund. 2-Has trading restrictions if he mentions a stock on TV so...

list of companies paying stock dividends

I've done my own taxes on stock dividends for decades & have always paid dividend taxes in the year they were distributed but I've never used the DRIP program so not sure when taxes are paid. ***This is from a U.S. taxpayer perspective only.

Store Closures near 9000 - Near All-time Highs?

I use quite a few websites as it seems some are good for some things but not others so no 1 site in particular. Do a quick google search for the topic you want to review & check out what you like to see. I do quite a bit on the grains so have quite a list just for grains alone that I read every day.

list of companies paying stock dividends

Yes, DRIPs are taxable but what other program is available to receive shares in place of cash from dividends? DRIPs is the only program I'm aware of. Stock dividends are taxable unless it's a retirement account.

Store Closures near 9000 - Near All-time Highs?

Retail store closings aren't a very good indicator of economic health IMO. Closings are a result of the shift to online retail, not lack of retail sales. Yes, when a local store closes that hurts the local businesses but those "discretionary dollars" just get spent elsewhere. One business gets...

    wrongful-death settlement, taxes and trusts

If your Dad pays for the college tuition, is that necessarily a "gift"? If he pays for apartment rent, is that a "gift"? I don't know, just curious if it's a way around the tax if those payments aren't considered a "gift". Might want to find out the definition of a "gift" according to tax laws.

    wrongful-death settlement, taxes and trusts

Read the question from OP. Courts decided in favor of payment. Where did OP ask for 50 opinions about whether the court's decision was correct? Where's your grand idea about how to avoid the taxes? Oh, you forgot that was the real question by the OP. You'd rather ramble & argue for hours about...

    wrongful-death settlement, taxes and trusts

Hi Danno, Sorry to hear about your brother. Don't know the amount your talking about. Might be best to get some expert advice before giving too much to taxes if this is a larger amount. If smaller amount, could your Dad buy "stuff" to gift to his 2 sons over multiple years until gone? Could...

Trading Risk on / Risk off

Where's the edge? Money moves from stocks to bonds & the reverse but if you can't see one market leading the other on a chart to give a "heads-up" for the lagging market, does it do you any good? If you trade highly correlated baskets against one another, that alone isn't an edge either. If I...
