Many thanks for the links Macro, but the first one doesn't seem to work, somehow. (Geesh, with just two ignores this whole thread suddenly is readable...)

too much emphasis on defense in trading

It seems to come down to a verification process, don't you think? If you read the Soros quote, it says "if you're right" and Soros also talks about the market as a device to test hypotheses. What does that tell you? Feedback. If you can incorporate a reliable feedback process into your...

    book recommandation please

On my book cover it reads "Natenberg". He can't google it, if it's not 100% correct. The second best book seems to be "Coulda Woulda Shoulda" by Cottle.

    Tape Reading

Hello prey, you're welcomed. You're naive, arrogant, unexperienced and you probably think you're very smart. That's a definite death sentence. I had 30-40 people working for me, when I was 23. I was young, dumb and arrogant and still could succeed in real life business. I think you're at...

    What's so bad about deflation?

That is not entirely correct. The main problem is what is known in economics as "sticky wages". There are two reasons, why wages are sticky (to the downside): - Running contracts, most job contracts run over several years, the minimum is several months -Psychological anchoring to your "old...

GOOG: Bubble or This Time It's Different?

Well, you should try to get a lot of negative delta and as few negative theta as possible. Theta basically is the time decay, what you lose every day just in case of standstill. If you put up an option chain in IB you can compare price, delta and theta very well. To make it short, a put...

    IB / Quotetracker

Thanks for the help. Your little program is quite fine. For some uses I prefer it to Tradestation. I especially like the thought out details like the "candle countdown".

    IB / Quotetracker

Can I use Quotetracker to chart commodities, for example YG? Maybe it's only for stocks and I overread it. I get YG into TS 2000i via Metaserver RT without any problems. I can't figure it out in Quotetracker. Really bizarre is: I get GOOG in Quotetracker without any problems, but wouldn't...

What's the next stop for oil??

As I see the fundamental picture, there is a lot of oil around right now, because people prepared for major supply disruptions and it didn't happen. On the other side there are people who'd like to build up an American-style strategic reserve. China is at it for quite a while now and others...

For all you clowns that shorted GOOG on

Ok, if someone is interested in options he should read Sheldon Natenberg "Option Volatility and Pricing", maybe also Charles Cottle "Coulda Shoulda Woulda". The main point is, to enter into an option position you have to forecast price and volatility. In this case we seem to have a mass...

For all you clowns that shorted GOOG on

I strongly advise every possible newbie reading this thread NOT to write out of the money calls on GOOG. ESPECIALLY NOT American types. I might be cautiously bearish on google, but I'm not a suicidal maniac. I stated some contrarian rules, I will never do that again. I see now, that somebody...

For all you clowns that shorted GOOG on

I live in Europe, may I ask if the mags were bearish or bullish? The "classic rules" would indicate a sell within 3-4 days on bullish magazine covers, especially if they argue on the stock split line. You would like to see that priced in before jumping on the train south.

    Grob109 uploads

I am utterly new to this forum. I am astonished as to have encountered something quite so intricately brilliant as some posts of Grob109 or abogdan(http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26658&highlight=music+of+markets). I admit I am humbled. But I'd also appreciate...

    Time to profitability

http://www.turtletrader.com/zerosum.pdf People talking about zero-sum here, this has been an academic subject for ages. Most markets (not all) perform valuable services within the larger structures of the economy. And services get paid. Companies are risk-averse and they're willing to pay...

    Market profile?

My view about Market Profile is that it's basically the modern form of tape reading. It's both a tool and a style, but not a "technique" and you can't "use" it. Once again recommended: Dalton - "Mind over markets" Hope I offended noone...:p
