    Accepting Losses

After exiting a trade with a profit, don't look at the trend continuing, and say "Darn! I could have made much more !!" BUT After exiting a trade with a loss, look at the trend continuing, and say "Dang! I could have lost much more !!" Cheers!! :)

    GREED in Trading

IMHO : if one does not have a certain degree of greed in his soul, he would not go into trading. (you don't become trader for the pretty girls, you take dancing lessons instead!). Therefore, greed is one of the reasons that push one into the trading world, and also one of the reasons that...

Great tool for swing traders: Point and Figure

I think people trading with P&F usally buy if the price breaks resistance (or vice versa). I never use P&F to buy at support and hope for the bounce. Due to the lack of time, when a resistance is broken on P&F, the signal is quite 'strong', because it may be a resistance for the last...3...

    Anyone here trade currency futures?

In my opinion, you have mostly institutional and position traders trading the curency. EARLY in the day, when a support or resistance is broken, the position/institution traders all have their signals and enter their trades. A daytrader could profit from that intraday leg. Otherwise, I...

    Are you ready for this....?

Long Way 2go, Maybe this will be a bit more concrete : One of the first thing you have to think of is money management. Let's say you have 25K to learn to trade, you will not allow yourself to loose more than 500$ per week. In the worst scenario, this will give you the capital to trade...

Great tool for swing traders: Point and Figure

... no, you're not missing anything :) Each chart has its own strenght and weakness. That's why one should not rely on only one signal. Cheers !!! :p

Great tool for swing traders: Point and Figure

I like P&F. First time looking at it, I though it was tic tac toe, and it took me a while to get rid of the time notion when looking at charts. I use P&F for the Dow stocks, not Nasd. It gives me a 'clearer' support and resistance, and an approximate target. :) Cheers!!!

    Are you ready for this....?

The problem for new traders seeking help/advice from more experience traders is that they would not 'understand' the advice untill they have to go through the 'process' (pain) themself. I think they should read up books to understant how the stock market work, so they would not have questions...

Dec S&P's Trading at a Discount!

Gord, If you really can't sleep at night, you may want to look at the 10 yr bond on ACE. The volume is usually higher than the mini Spoo/Naz, and it picks up around 2:30 AM - 3:00 AM (NY time), that's when the London market opens. Beware, it's not the same game, spreads are usually...

    E-Mini Point and Figure

In my opinion, P&F is very good for less volatile stocks, not for the Nasdaq bunch. I mostly use it to identify support and resistance for a mid / long term swing, as well as calculating targets, however, it's a bit harder in a sideway market. Cheers !!! :)

    why close aphie's journal?!

I agree with Baron and the mods. Aphie's journal should be at least moved to 'Chit Chat' section untill he makes a real trade. It's not censorship nor unfairness from Baron, , simply he is keeping a tigh ship. A trading journal is a trading journal, not a 'National Inquirers' :p And...

how can you start your trading

just make sure you read and re-read the chapters concerning money managements in all the books you'll read. Proper money managements will keep you in the game long enough (few years?) to learn the art of trading. Otherwise, you could be wiped out within a few months, and didn't have a...

    Aphie

I found in most of Alphie's posts both innocence (not ignorance) and honesty, two good qualities that are sometimes hard to find in a person (including traders) :) Cheers !!
