Played the gap down on OSIP. Gapped down on news about buying out EYET. Shorted at bottom of 5 minute bar, stopped out for a $1 gain. This has to be my best exit ever, my short got covered 1 penny above the low of the day so far. Probably just luck or coincidence but I'll take it.

Still chugging along trying to make the turn from losing/break even to profitable. Traded the gap up on RIMM this morning. Tried to fade the gap because it was up on no news and got stoped out.

For example if a stock is trading at $99 and I want to put a buy in if it breaks resistance at $100, the only way I can do that is to manually wait for it to break $100 and then put in my limit order?

Yes I am new. I understand now, i basically put in a sell below the bid and it was sold at the current market bid. So how do you enter an order to only short something if it falls below a certain price or buy if it goes above a certain price? I wanted to short this if it droped below 41.83 so...

I paper traded for about 6 months trying implement a strategy for playing opening gaps. I went live July 1st and have just started to break even lately. I was never trained by any one or had a mentor but I did learn about gap trading from another member of this board.
