What the hell does what you posted (hereinabove) have to do with whether a trader has 24,999 or 25,001 in their account OR for that matter, $500,000?!! Any size can blow out. Lehman went under and so did Bears Stearns. So did traders with multi-million dollar accounts. THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE...

SIG, You are correct: NOT an "inalieanble" right to margin. Broker dealers make that decision within long standing regs. But rather, the "right" to have the government or its agencies regulate with a rational reason for any such distinction as set forth in this hastily enacted but horrendous...

Come on. You are so smart. Can't you understand how harmful this rule is? I am so disappointed you don't see that. What if the next market wizard wants to open an account for 20,000 and qualifies for level 3 approval based upon income. experience and/or assets. Why should he or she have...

Robert, You're not a member of FINRA? If you are can you take a peak at the minutes from 2001 or aks them to send you a copy. The minutes of NASD from 2001 show why the PDT rule was enacted. Here's why: it was "parens patria" essentially. The government trying to stick it's nose into others...

Yes. and I have settled about 6 cases since the prop firm days, which was a LONG time ago, for well over a $1,000,000 each (some with other law firms with fee splitting) and one was for 3.86 million, and countless other large fee cases. Same is in IRA and 401(k)s. Did I have grey hair back...

What does that have to do with the PDT rule ?It's rude to have people reply to a thread that has nothing to do with them and they have zero legal knowledge.

QUOTE="Maverick74, post: 4645877, member: 10126"]This is EXACTLY what he is asking for. Prepare your lawyers! What exactly is your interest in this thread, maverick 74??!! Huh? What is your stake in this matter? !! Do you have any skin in the game. Further, that (2xs, 4xs on 5K) is...

So sorry, I just can't help myself being an iconoclast - SIG. You just do not sound very smart. Sorry but true. At least when it comes to logic. But that's OK; my astrologer tells me some people can't use that part of their brain. You know Sig, the one that deals with reason and rational...

ANYONE? Why was the PDT Rule enacted in 2001. Just for the record, I was trading two accounts with total of approx 846,000 dollars in 1996-2001. I'm serious. Lived in Lincolnwood Towers. Remember the SOES bandits? So, anyone? WHY was it promulgated?

How do hedge funds get into a conversation about the PDT Rule. Thanks for the reply. You may be correct. Damages, we are still loking into that. The complaint I have started drafting will have multiple counts and alternative prayers for relief. However there is no doubt that the PDT rule...

Good point: I forgot. Cryptocurrencies have had ZERO regulations; but if you want to "gamble" $25000 (which to rich guys like maverick74 ain't shit), you are heavily regulated. I guess that's reasonable to hypocrites. Hey, i recall you got a 90 (or 91) on Series 7; and i only got an 89. Also...

I am a semi-retired litigation and trial attorney in Chicago; and have also been involved at various times with the financial markets, since the very early 1980s. Also passed series 7 a few years ago. The PDT rule (promulgated in 2001) is unconscionable, unconstitutional, capricious, harmful...

Older I get, Less I understand... why is market up when Moore lost, rates likely going higher?

I knew wewould hear about "seasonal" market strength. But that is not what this is since if you observe the empirically "weaker" months this market still went higher and higher... and so on! Tudor Jones quote makes sense for what we are seeing now. Thanks for that quote.

Older I get, Less I understand... why is market up when Moore lost, rates likely going higher?

No. The tax bill is buoying the market it seems. SO if moore gets defeated and Susan Collins is waffling and one more republican waivers - then no tax bill. Keynes is right again... !
