Give them a call. Usually you can trade up to 4 times or more of the maintenance margin with these firms.

1256 contracts loss (carryback or carryover)

cml2949, I've never done it before but it would make sense that your refund for this year would go down because you are moving the losses to last years return, giving you less losses this year.

    IB NFA Fees

IB is now charging NFA fees to everyone even members of exchanges. 11. Does the assessment fee apply to accounts of persons having "privileges of membership" on a contract market? No. NFA Bylaw 1301(b)(i) makes the NFA assessment fee inapplicable to trades of customers who have "privileges...

    Soybean Futures

I was aware of the Tokyo Grain Exchange, volume there is very low however. I'm pretty much looking to see what is having so much influence on the CBOT prices in the overnight. Volume seems to pick up significantly around 6 and 7cst. I'll take a look at the others. None of the exchanges you...

    IB Overcharging on Exchange Fees

That's pretty much what they told me when I called the CME. My primary firm charges me at the lower rate because 95% of my trades are done during the ETH and then once a month my account gets billed for the difference. I wouldn't mind if IB charged the higher rate and refunded monthly.

    IB Overcharging on Exchange Fees

About 3 months ago I became a CME member under Rule 106.R Electronic Corporate Member - Volume Incentive Program. This entitles me to Rule 106.R Electronic Corporate Member - Holding Member rates during ETH. IB refused to pass the holding member rate discount onto me stating they were unable...

Are you able to deduct the cost of purchasing a seat on an exchange (CME, CBOT, NYMEX, etc)? I have not been able to find anything about this online or on ET. Also, just out of curiosity if you lease a seat where are you writing off the expense. I have mine on schedule C, Part II, line 17...

Good idea except for the fact no bank will give you a loan defeating the purpose of incorporating.

    NFA Fees

Now that I have memberships on the CME and CBOT I don't pay any NFA fees for trades executed on those exchanges. Not that I am upset about this but it does seem rather unfair that the little guys pay this fee while the bigger players can avoid it. (FYI I a never for higher taxes, I would...
