    Data Feeds for FX ?

eSignal can send data into TradeStation 2000i. The most recent versions of TradeStation will not accept outside feeds AFAIK, since their business moved to being broker/data vendor.

backtesting your own formulas in esignal

Runningbear, To my knowledge we have not made that statement. In fact with EFS2, there are a number of EFS functions that allow a user to automate their trading. Here's a KB article that documents each of these functions.

backtesting your own formulas in esignal

The link is there, but admittedly it is a bit hard to catch. If you hover your mouse over the Support tab at the top of eSignal Central, there will be a link to the KB. I'll see if I can get more visibility to it, especially considering how important the information is contained therein...

backtesting your own formulas in esignal

First off, thank you for your interest in backtesting your formulas with eSignal. We do house all of our EFS documentation in one location called the EFS KnowledgeBase. As far as further training on EFS, we are in the process of creating training videos on learning EFS. I don't have an...

Have you in the past been able to get data from the Data Manager on this computer? If so, has anything changed since that time? (new software, upgrade to XP SP2, etc.)

    Esignal problems !!!!

We are getting close to releasing eSignal 7.9.1 and as such have put up a release candidate at the top of our download page. This version does correct this issue, so please try this version out when you can.

    Market Profile

Here's a nice look at the MP Bund Chart in eSignal 7.9.1 Beta. It has some unique features with it like a TPO summary at the top of each distribution.

    eSignal intraday volume question

Minute-based interval charts (1-min, 3-min, 15-min, etc.) don't update the volume unless a price change occurs, so refreshing a 1-minute chart can show dramatic volume increases. eSignal and the Data Manager are aware of the trades (they aren't being dropped,) but the Advanced Chart is...

    eSignal intraday volume question

I see the discrepancy, however this is caused by a different issue. If you try refreshing the 60s chart a few times and monitor the volume for a particular bar after each refresh, you'll see that it can change. The reason for that is that eSignal currently time-stamps our data as it's received...

    eSignal intraday volume question

Tick based charts require more CPU power from the processor. If you had the minimum eSignal specs (P3, 800Mhz), and tried to pull up a number of tick charts, you would experience sluggish performance from eSignal. Newer RAM technologies is certainly nice to have as well, but we've seen more...

    eSignal intraday volume question

I'm not seeing that on my charts (7.9.1 Beta, build 725). When I have a 60s chart and a 1min chart side-by-side, the 60s chart updates the volume in real-time, while the 1min chart holds the volume at a set amount until a price change comes in at which point the volume will match.

    eSignal intraday volume question

Yes, that is one way to do it. Another way (for shorter intervals) is to use a second based interval. For example, instead of a 3 minute chart, you could use a 180s interval. Since 180s is based on ticks it will deliver streaming volume on a chart. Please also keep in mind that tick-based...

    eSignal intraday volume question

There is a known issue in the minute-based charts, wherein the charts don't update unless there is a price change. This is mostly seen on the volume study, but also affects volume related studies or EFS formulas. This is something that is on our list to address (EDL # 11240,) however an ETA is...

    Esignal problems !!!!

It may be server related, although I haven't heard of any large influx of calls which is typical of a server related issue. The best way to further troubleshoot this is to call into our support department, so that they can find the servers you have connected to and/or further dig into the issue...

    Esignal problems !!!!

Every symbol I've checked seems to come through ok. In the status box of that window do you see a green OK in upper case, or something else? If it is a green OK, please try closing that Standard Chart Window, exit eSignal using File --> Exit All & Save, open eSignal again, and try again using a...

    Esignal problems !!!!

After much investigation we were able to track this down. The problem is occurring only for stocks ending in =N (or some other regional extension,) and revolves around having a quote window linked to an advanced chart. If you have =N type symbols in the quote window and click on them, the...

    eSignal down again?

A small percentage of servers had a connection issue, however this issue has cleared up approximately 15 minutes ago. Restarting eSignal should clear up the issue if it is still occurring.

    eSignal 7.8 & 7.9

This typically starts around 12:00pm, PST (3pm, EST) on Sunday. The reason other vendors may not show this is that they are sending only a limited number of contributing banks, while eSignal distributes a very comprehensive list of over 200 banks.
