Ben just screwed himself and this market

History repeats! I agree that this rally is rate driven only...remember the last cut? Market screamed FOUL!...was sharply up only to collapse soon after. The smart money is selling the rallies, because its a bear market. Incredible blood bath in Asia overnight. I dout that the 75bp will...

8 Reasons Why tomorrow, Tuesday could be a HUGE SP/DOW UP!!!!-massive UP!

I think tomorrow, we'll see alot of margin call selling, or panic selling. The Bank of Canada is expected to lower rates only 25 bp. The TSX closed down 600 points to-day. Historically, this week has been negative 9/10 years. Doubt we'll close up this week. Just my 2c. Anything is...

Longer Term Buy Signals on NQ, YM & SP

Looks like your dream will come true...we got a 500 pt down move in the TSX to-day and it doesn't seem to buge at this time. Many traders thought that there had not been enough fear for a true bottom. Smells like a bottom to-day (ie. for the non-US markets). Plus, we are likely to see the...

Market starting to bet on 100bps cut for next meeting

On Friday, I hear Ben talk about aggressive measures are required now. On Friday, I thought 75 bp, now I'm thinking he will come out with an emergency announcement....and yes, at least 50 now and 50 next week...but my bet is 75 now. Ben did do his phD on the crash of 29 and believes that it...

Black Monday - Asia Markets down 3-5%, futures blood red

Market capitulation?....or market meltdown? Could go either way....there could be a chance that this is a bottom. Historically, this week has been negative for 9 of the last 10 years. So, I say we continue lower this week, then expect a pop. I am 50/50 short/long. In any event, the VIX is...

    12,500 was strong support

Apparently, these delayed quotes are only for those with upgraded subscriptions, so I was unable to access. It is my understanding that the e mini's trade 24/7

    February Gold (ZGG8)

Again, I agree with realist here. We might see a small pop in gold, but I agree that we ...are entering a downtrend. The degree of bullishness was way overdone. Plus, since the usd is holding up, I think the FED will come out with a waping cut, 75 may not be unreasonable, since the market...

Are screen traders at risk of eyesight problems ?

Yes, the screen affects your eyes. My eye doctor asked me how long I spend in front of a computer. I did get special glasses which I now wear just for the computer, and it really helps.

    12,500 was strong support

Landis, and Weisman, I totally concur. With the vix up today, and the fed cuts to be announced, I say we rally soon. Ofcourse, we may not. I understand though, that we are presently in a "bullish 40 period" til April. Now, I don't think this corrective retracement will hold much beyond...

    February Gold (ZGG8)

I happen to agree with Realist. Look at the hui, which has just turned negative. We might see abit of an upswing in gold but, with gold making new tops, the stocks didn't confirm. :D

Futures is up, is collapse over?

Hey Austinp, I think you are right on! The number I heard for the Sp500 was about 850...seems unfathomable at this point, but then again I believed the market was going to crash back in September, and was surprised to see the SP around 1380.so soon! I have not actively traded a bear...

I see oil at 80 in a month.

I sold my last short position to-day, and am usually too early in selling, but I did meet my target and exceeded it abit. However, I agree that oil looks like it wants to come down abit more, especially with the markets down so severely. I also can't help wonder if the PPT don't hold some...

Next Toronto Hook up -Jan 24

Damn, And I thought we were just going to drink beer and belch! You guys are so conscientous. Regarding systems, I think that is a highly individualized matter. How about just talking shop if an alternative presenter does not materialize. Now, I am a newbie to your group, but like to put...

Your going to hate this brutal post

I love the fact that if I study, and work hard, it will pay off, which is what is happening. Bosses and organizations can stifle the best people. I do agree that the markets take a lot of time, and work. Eventually, I believe you can work less as your knowlege/experience grows. :p

Anyone else share this mental problem?

I agree. Buying the dips in a trending market is proven to be profitable. Also, I find sentiment indicators very compelling.:p

    February Gold (ZGG8)

With all due respect Realist, I had read JS...I assume you're talking jsmineset...read him for years and was an ardent fan. Problem is he is a die hard gold fan, so was I for many years. My conclusion is that it is better to be neutral that way I am open to more information. Works for me...

    Transition from Engineering to trading

You are so right! I wonder why that is. There seems to be some prejudice. Is it that they are better with video games? As far as the KISS method, I agree, however, having the education is well worth it. Allows you the confidence to pull the trigger, and then manage the trade. Also, you...

    A suggestion for struggling traders

The job of a trader is to recognize opportunity...not follow the market. That's the herd mentality, and the majority are always wrong. I agree that the information the market gives us is neutral. We decide on our reaction to it. I read Douglas' book and it really helped me release feelings...

    Index options v futures options

I think you're saying that options on futures are very different than stock options. I have experience with stock options, have tried abit of options on futures...specifically gold. There is no vix on futures so options are harder to gauge...imho
